Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. – (Psalm 150:6, NIV)
Everything that breathes, praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! – (Psalm 150:6, ERV)
Let every living, breathing creature praise God! Hallelujah! – (Psalm 150:6, MSG)
As I am sitting in the living room, flanked by our two dogs, I ponder how everything that has breath praises His Name. Some sort of scooter without lights drove out and back into our neighborhood. Both dogs were at attention and barked their warning that something was amiss. Dogs don’t wonder what their purpose is, they simply seek to love and protect their people. Perhaps when we are walking out our purpose, we are indeed praising Him by being who and what we were meant to be. Obviously, as humans, we have ways to specifically praise the Lord and give Him thanks, but perhaps other living creatures are praising Him through doing what they were made to do. For a moment, I questioned the idea of that being true for spiders, yet quickly the image of intricate webs came to mind. God is intentional in how He loves and cares for us, so we too, ought to be intentional about giving Him praise. Praise presents differently for each of us, but a great way to start is to intentionally walk out our day loving those whom He has placed around us. May we ever seek the Lord to lead us in His love, and give Him praise for purposefully designing each of us.
May all that has breath,
give praise to the Lord;
all our gratitude,
for good He affords.
With purpose we’re made,
to love and be loved;
to help each other,
rather than be judged.
With every breath,
may our lives give praise;
as we live and love,
throughout all our days.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that all that has breath was created with the capacity to praise. Thank You for the overwhelming love which You pour out upon us all. Thank You that as we seek You, we find You, and come to know the beauty of Your mercy and grace. Forgive us for not praising You often enough, or for not walking out our days as who You have created us to be. Teach us to trust You more to lead us in Your love in all that we say and do. Show us how to love those around us well and praise You through all that we say and do. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we praise You with our whole being. Amen.
