For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. – (Romans 6:23, HCSB)
When people sin, they earn what sin pays – death. But God gives His people a free gift – eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. – (Romans 6:23, ERV)
The payoff for a life of sin is death, but God is offering us a free gift – eternal life through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One, the Liberating King – (Romans 6:23, VOICE)
We all sin and fall short of the glory of God. However, when we seek Him and confess our sin, He forgives us and invites us into everlasting life with Him. Jesus took all of our ugliness upon Himself on the cross so that we could reflect His goodness instead. The sacrifice that He made was for all, and the gift is freely given to all who receive. I love the reminder that Jesus is our Liberating King. What that means is that He sets us free from all that entangles us – our sin, our heaviness, our worries, and the weights we carry that we should not – and He leads us to walk in His freedom and the light of His goodness and grace. May we ever seek the Lord and give Him access to set us free so that we can live out His love and share with those around us through what we say and do.
For all of us sin,
our love does fall short;
but Christ sets us free,
our strength and support.
As we seek His grace,
to forgive our sin;
He takes it away,
and shines His love in.
He floods with mercy,
forgives and sets free;
loves without limits,
to eternity.
So, choose to look up,
and ask for God’s grace;
trust in His goodness,
and seek Him always.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You are the way, the truth, and the light that leads us into eternity with You. Thank You that as we seek You and ask for forgiveness, You show us mercy and grace that goes beyond our understanding. Forgive us for not seeking You in our struggles, for You have overcome all. Teach us to trust You in all things and at all times, for Your goodness leads us through all. Lead us to love those around us as You do. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we keep short accounts before You and rely on You to lead us in the ways we are meant to go. Amen.
