Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again – rejoice! – (Philippians 4:4, NLT)

These words were penned by Paul as he was a prisoner in chains. His joy was not circumstantial, but rather the joy that he professed was what he found through his hope in Christ. We too, should have the same sort of joy within us. It does not mean that we will always walk around jovial and full of laughter, but it does mean that those who believe have the blessed assurance of a promised eternity with Christ, therefore there is reason to rejoice, always. The remarkable thing to see, is that even in times of great trial, seasoned believers have a beautiful glimmer of hope that continues to radiate from within. That spark of joy that ignited when they first believed, burns so brightly, that not even tragedy nor trial can hide the fullness of their joy inside. Even through sorrow, words of praise will be uttered from their lips. May we all be so full of joy in the Lord that we cannot help but rejoice, no matter what our circumstance.

Despite circumstance,

Where Joy Resides

My beautiful Gram – Always joy, regardless of her circumstances. ❤

be full of great joy;

for Christ freely gave,

for hearts to employ.

We’re made to rejoice,

to celebrate love;

hold fast to the hope,

granted through Jesus.

No matter what comes,

let our hearts align;

be filled with His joy,

in heart, soul and mind.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You are our reason to rejoice. Thank You that our hearts can be full of joy to overflowing, even in the midst of trials and tragedies – not because of our circumstances, but because our hope is held in You and in our knowing that You are good, even when our situations are not. Forgive us for allowing anything around us to steal the joy that You have placed within us, and teach us to trust You enough to rise up and rejoice in all things. Show us how to love others around us, and to share the joy that You have placed within us. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we are full of Your joy and make the conscious choice to rejoice. Amen.
