Keep Pressing Forward

For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. – (Luke 11:10, NIV)

Yes, whoever continues to ask will receive. Whoever continues to look will find. And whoever continues to knock will have the door opened for them. – (Luke 11:10, ERV)

All who keep asking will receive, all who keep seeking will find, and doors will open to those who keep knocking. – (Luke 11:10, VOICE)

This is a great reminder that we are meant to persist in prayer, and keep pressing forward in the direction to which we have been called. Following God’s leading requires both prayer and action. We have to seek Him to know His will, ask Him for His help, and then take steps in the direction which we are being led. Incredibly, the more we seek the Lord, the more we find what His next steps for us will be. Often we only know one step at a time, or the direction we should move, but it requires us to actually move forward in faith. As today marks the final day of our school year, my hope and prayer is that those who are moving onto high school will press in and persevere, and that the staff who are retiring or moving on, will find open doors for their next steps. May we ever keep asking the Lord for what we need and what we are meant to do, and listen and follow in the directions to which we are called.

Choose to seek the Lord,

press forward and pray;

go where He leads you,

He’ll show you the way.

Listen intently,

for He speaks to hearts;

steadfast to listen,

rise up, do your part.

When we’re uncertain,

ask Him and go forth;

each new step in faith,

He is our true north.

Ever be centered,

on that which is good;

His love will guide us,

on paths understood.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that as we seek You, we find You. Thank You that when we ask, You answer. And thank You that when we knock, the right doors will be opened to us. Forgive us for our lack of faith and perseverance when doors do not open immediately. Teach us to trust You as we press forward in the direction You call, and help us ever listen to Your leading for each next step. Show us how to love those around us as we are loved by You. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we seek You, follow You, and press on in Your goodness as grace each day that we draw breath. Amen.
