Renewed

With every sun’s rising, surprise us with Your love, satisfy us with Your kindness. Then we will sing with joy and celebrate every day we are alive. – (Psalm 90:14, VOICE)

There is something magical about early mornings. Each day, I am blessed to watch the new day dawn as the darkness becomes light, and most of the world around me is still sleeping. This morning, as I gaze out our living room window, I can see a hint of sunrise colors peeking through the intersecting branches of the two trees out front. Our dogs are sleeping near me, and the house is silent. Often it is in the common and ordinary things that I am reminded of God’s love and kindness to me. Who He is and how He loves, even in the smallest things, bring joy to my heart and reason to give Him thanks. Perhaps knowing that this will be the final Friday of the school year adds to the joy as well. His grace has carried me on the longest days, and His peace has been present, even when things have been chaotic. Additionally, the two brief moments where the silence of morning was broken, I had quick exchanges with my husband before he left for work and with my youngest as he is up to have breakfast and do a bit of homework before heading to work. Sweet greetings of love and appreciation were shared, before each went on to begin their day. May we ever recognize the goodness of God as we begin our day, and look for the beauty and blessings that He brings as we continue. He is good, and His love is present in each new rising of the sun and reminds us that there is new joy in each day.

As we rise and ask,

the Lord’s ever near;

to show us His love,

and grace that’s sincere.

He greets us with light,

evidence He’s good;

and hand paints the sky,

glory understood.

Wherever we go,

He makes His love known;

through His creation,

His goodness is shown.

Kindness through strangers,

encouraged by those;

He’s placed in our path,

to show us we’re known.

May we each go forth,

throughout this new day;

and give Him our thanks,

for joys on our way.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You are so good. Thank You that as we seek You, You greet us with a new sunrise and countless reminders of who You are and how You love. Thank You that there is joy in knowing You and the fullness of Your love. Forgive us for taking these blessings for granted. Teach us to appreciate everything, for You are always with us. Lead us to love those around us well, so that all might find joy in Your goodness and grace. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we seek You and praise You for Your faithfulness that floods our hearts with joy, and renews us for each new day. Amen.
