The Reason for Reliance

In my times of distress,

I will call on the Lord.

Be it morning or night,

His help always outpoured.

He ransoms me safely,

through wages of war.

He hears my distress cry,

and brings peace to my core.

God’s forever enthroned,

all justice, His to serve.

The fearless and sinful,

will get what is deserved.

Cast your cares on the Lord,

for He always sustains,

He won’t let righteous fall,

His truth always remains.

Regardless of chaos,

or evil that surrounds,

I will trust in You, Lord;

in You, safely I’m found.

(Responding to Psalm 55:16-23)

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You are our hiding place – our space of safety and security, regardless of what surrounds.  Thank You that You hear our every cry for Your help, and that You are answering, even when we don’t see the evidence.  Forgive us for wanting to play judge and jury for those who hurt us, and help us to remember that You alone are the Judge.  May we pray for those who persecute us, and bless those who curse us.  Teach us to live and love like You.  May our loving ways lead many to bring You praise, as they come to call You King.  Amen.

Confidence Comes Through Christ

“The fruit of righteousness will be peace; the effect of righteousness will be quietness and confidence forever.” – Isaiah 32:17

The outcome of living right before God will be peace; the impact of allowing Him to direct our days, will be quiet lives with endless trust, even when chaos comes.

It does not say that our lives will be trouble-free, without hardship and heartache, trial or storm.  What is said, is that where we turn, and on whom we depend, even in times of distress, are what determine our peace.  In Him, we can find our steady shelter in the throws of the storms, and an anchor to keep us from sinking or steering off course when the waters rage all around us.

Total trust comes through repeated steps of faith.  He picks us up, when we extend our arms.  The more we turn to Trust, the more His peace permeates the places that have previously been plagued by pain.  Each new step of obedience supplies a season to sense His presence and be surrounded by His peace.  As we learn to allow the Lord to lead, peace becomes present and our confidence in our Creator increases.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that as we seek You, we find You.  Thank You that Your presence provides peace.  Keep us from drowning in times of distress, and teach us to turn to trust in You in all things and at all times.  May the quietness and confidence we carry in Christ, contribute to the leading of lost lives unto You, Lord.  Amen.
