To Be On Our Guard

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love. – (1 Corinthians 16:13)

These are weighty and wise words by which we are meant to live. To be on our guard, means that we are aware of what is around us – the things that are influencing us and affecting us, and taking a posture of readiness. Standing firm in the faith requires us to know what we believe. In order for that to happen, we must invest time in the Word and in prayer. The more we invest in knowing God, the more secure we can stand when storms come our way. Courage and strength are gifts that God supplies as we need them most. Even when we don’t necessarily feel courageous nor strong, when we choose to do the next right thing, or take the next obedient step, we are actually operating in His courage and strength. Finally, to do everything in love, is to allow the Lord to flavor all that we do. Let nothing be out of selfish ambition nor with malicious intent, but rather to love as Christ first loved us. When we have to take a stand or step back from spaces that are toxic, even then, there is room to do so in love. If we are listening to the Lord and allowing Him to direct our steps, we can trust that He will work all things out for good. May we each be on our guard; standing firm in our faith; as men and women of courage and strength, as we do all things in His love.

To be on our guard,The Way of Wisdom

means we are aware;

of what we take in,

and what is out there.

We must choose stand firm,

in faith to what’s true;

as we seek the Lord,

for He makes us new.

Both courage and strength,

are gifts from the Lord;

granted as needed,

blessings He affords.

So may we each do,

all we do in love;

so hearts may be turned,

to the Lord above.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You give us direction in Your Word as to how we are meant to live life as You intended. Thank You that in all that You ask, You provide what is needed to do as You call us to do. Thank You that You equip us to be on guard and stand firm in our faith, as You give us courage and strength to do all things in love. Forgive us for being unaware of that which surrounds us, or for being deaf to that which You are speaking to our hearts. Teach us to trust You more, so that we may hear You well, and embrace the courage and strength that You supply so that we go forth doing everything You ask in love. Lead us to love as You love us, and may many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we are on our guard, standing firm in the faith with Your courage and strength to do all things in love. Amen.

For the Lord your God will bless you, …and your joy will be complete. – Deuteronomy 16:15

Gaining Life

When both blessings and trials come our way, the thing which matters most, is where we choose to stand. Are we being tossed to and fro by the tides of change, or are our feet securely planted on the Rock that cannot be moved? By standing firm you will gain life. – (Luke 21:19)

To stand firm, is to place our hope and faith in Christ, no matter how difficult the situation. Christ has given us His Holy Spirit to comfort, protect and provide for our every need. Our assurance in Him ought to grant us the courage to stand strong in the Lord, as He alone is the way to eternal life. May we hold fast to His promises, and know that all in this life is fleeting, but that which is yet to come, is eternal.

Blessings and trials,Gaining Life

will both come our way;

how will we choose stand,

throughout day to day?

Thrown, tossed to and fro,

by changing of tides;

or trusting in Him,

where all hope resides.

The Lord is the rock,

that cannot be moved;

He’s safe and secure,

His promises proved.

May we choose stand firm,

and set aside strife;

hold fast to the Lord,

and in Him, gain life.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You are the Rock on which we can stand secure. Thank You that no matter what goes on around us, You will not be moved. Thank You that when we stand firm in You, our future is secure for all of eternity. Forgive us for our fearfulness and weariness. Teach us to trust You more, so that we will hold fast to You, no matter what comes our way. Lead us to love others as You so tenderly and generously love each of us. May many come into a saving knowledge of You, so that futures are forever secure in You. Be exalted O God, as we stand firm in You. Amen.

Listen… be wise, and keep your heart on the right path. – Proverbs 23:19

Standing Firm

By standing firm you will gain life. – (Luke 21:19)

Though seemingly simple, this is a tall order in the face of persecution, devastation and destruction. To stand firm, we must first be certain in Whom we are placing all of our trust. The more we know and better we understand the heart of our Heavenly Father, the more certain we become in the security of our firm foundation, and are better able to take a solid stand upon it in the face of adversity. Christ assures us that in Him, we will gain eternal life, regardless of what happens in our present circumstance. Despite possible persecution or worse, we know that anything that is endured in this life is merely temporary, and the joy that is yet to come, is eternal. May we stand firm in You, Lord, as we gain Your grace and understand the hope that is ours, as we hold fast to the life everlasting, that we are granted in You.

Trust in the Lord,Do Everything in Love

with all that You are;

the path to life,

is nearby, not far.

Reach out to Christ,

He’ll show us the way;

planted in Him,

in His fold to stay.

Choose to stand firm,

no matter what comes;

life shall be gained,

through our Righteous One.

His grace sustains,

His strength shall uphold;

our hearts and minds,

so we may be bold.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that when we seek You, we find You. Thank You that as we invest our hearts and lives in You, You teach us how to stand firm in our faith and grant us eternal life. Forgive us for the times that we have not stood firm in our convictions, and help us to learn from each of those moments, so that we may choose better the next time we are faced with something similar. Teach us to trust You more, so that we stand firm in all things and at all times. Lead us to love others as You so completely love us, so that many may come to gain life in You as well. Be exalted, Lord God, as we stand firm in You. Amen.
