Run From Ruin

Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. – (2 Timothy 2:22)

In a culture that tells us, “if it feels good, go for it,” those who call on Christ and want to walk in His ways, are to take a different path. We are called to a higher standard. While most are simply pursuing pleasure, our charge is to run after righteousness; to follow that which God has for us, and to turn away from that which He does not. To flee the evil desires of youth, is to keep ourselves out of harm’s way. If we know a place or a group of people that create in us a propensity to sin, then we are to flee and avoid the situation, so that we may remain upright before our Father in Heaven.

As we pursue what is right according to Christ, we will grow in faith and love; experiencing His peace, as He purifies our hearts. He does not call us to walk this road alone, but rather to walk beside others too, who are seeking to answer all that He is asking. May we flee from that which is evil in the eyes of the Lord, and pursue passionately, all that He has for us.

Flee from all evil,Run From Ruin

pursue righteousness;

call out to Jesus,

to show which way’s best.

As we choose follow,

His path, and not ours;

faith, love and His peace,

find home in our hearts.

Do not walk alone,

but rather invest;

in those seeking,

to follow His best.

For on this rough road,

we best navigate;

when we’re surrounded,

and don’t isolate.

Shoulder to shoulder,

we shall rise above;

the world’s temptations,

as we walk in love.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that as we run from that which leads us into temptation and pursue the things of You, You grow our faith, overwhelm us with Your lavish love, and help us to know Your peace – even in places where peace seems impossible. Thank You that You take us as we are, and refine us, creating in us, hearts that are pure and acceptable before You, by the power of Your goodness and grace. Forgive us for allowing ourselves entry into toxic situations or scenarios, and grant us wisdom so that we will flee from the spaces that suck us into sin. Thank You that You are merciful and loving, and that You do not allow us to stay in such spaces, but rather You correct and redirect so that we may follow You with all that we are. Thank You that You do not call us to walk this road alone, but rather You created us for relationships. Thank You that we are called to walk beside one another, shoulder to shoulder, to hold one another up, encourage and challenge each other in love. May many come to know the peace that is found in You alone, as they seek to find faith in You. Let our love extended through hearts You have purified, reflect Your radiance to the world. Be glorified, O God. Amen.

Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him. – Psalm 34:8

Called to Choose

where we all must choose;

will we live for self,

or share the good news?

For all will be marked,

a sign of our choice;

will we join in song,

praise Him with our voice?

Only the redeemed,

shall sing the new song;

those He purified,

who’ve renounced their wrongs.

To follow the Lamb,

we must hear His voice;

our ears are opened,

when we make the choice.

He makes us blameless,

and keeps our hearts pure;

when we trust in Him,

our hope is secure.

Let roar of heaven,

may the mighty sound;

be held in our hearts,

for we have been found.

(Responding to Revelation 14:1-5)

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that when we have chosen You, we have no need to fear. Thank You that our hope in Your promises, provide permanent reason to praise You. Thank You that in You, our future is secured. Forgive us Father, for fearing the fire that falls all around us. Teach us to trust You more, so that we may stand firm forever, in the foundation You’ve forged in our hearts. May our souls soar at the sound of heaven’s song, as it resonates in the hearts of all who believe. Let our love be contagious, as You have shown us what love looks like. May many come to call You King, and present all praise unto You. Be glorified in all things and at all times. Amen.

Anne update: Anne was able to attend church yesterday for the first time in a few weeks. She went to lunch with friends, following the service. Her move has been postponed until at least Tuesday, and she continues to be held in His strong hands, and loved well where she is. Please continue to pray for healing to be hers, and for His peace and presence to permeate her every pore. Blessings to you all, beloved friends. Holding all hope in Him, Shannon

The Great Gift of Grace

For the grace of God,

that brings us all hope;

our delivery,

the true lifeline rope.

It instructs each one,

how we are to live;

teaching to deny,

evil the world gives.

Strength and self-control,

so we may choose well;

wait for blessed hope,

redemption from hell.

The glorious day,

the Savior appears;

He will take us home,

and allay all fears.

Those who call on Him,

will not be denied;

by His blood, redeemed,

now called purified.

Because we are free,

and considered His;

be ever eager,

do good as He says.

(Responding to Titus 2:11-14)

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that all hope is held in You, and all who hold Your hope are redeemed and empowered to live a life that is pleasing to You. Forgive us for our faltering – the times that we have succumbed to ungodliness and worldly passions – and grant us Your strength to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives. Give us ears to hear You, and hearts that are willing to obey. May many come to know Your covering as we choose to walk in Your truth. Let our lives shine bright before all. Amen.
