Praise in Wonder

O Lord, I will honor and praise Your Name, for You are my God. You do such wonderful things! You planned them long ago, and now You have accomplished them. – (Isaiah 25:1, NLT)

Lord, You are my God; I will exalt You and praise Your Name, for in perfect faithfulness You have done wonderful things, things planned long ago. – (Isaiah 25:1, NIV)

God deserves all of our honor and praise, for His faithfulness is perfect, and what He says, He does. The Lord is faithful to fulfill all of His promises, and we can trust that He is true to His word. Sometimes, in the hectic pace of life, we lose sight of all that God has done, and become anxious about what lies ahead. It is both good and necessary to slow down and recognize all that God has done to faithfully fulfill His promises to us. For me, I need only look on the faces of my children to remember the wonderful ways in which He fulfills His word. May all that is within us recognize the wonderful things that He has done, giving our honor and praise to He alone who is worthy of our awe and wonder.

Let us choose honor,unseal-my-lips

Give praise to His Name;

May all within us,

Of His love, proclaim.

See all the wonder,

The great things He does;

How He keeps His word,

And oh, how He loves.

All that He has planned,

The Lord shall fulfill;

We can always trust,

What He says, He will.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You do such wonderful things. Thank You that the things that You planned long ago, You fulfill. Thank You that You are always faithful. Thank You that You are my God and I can honor and praise You. Forgive us for not recognizing the wonderful things that You have done in us, through us and around us. Teach us to take pause and look around, so that we would both remember and recognize all of the places where You have stepped in and shown Your faithfulness to us. Help us to trust You more. Show us how to love those around us in a tangible way, so that they might come to see the light of Your love through our words and deeds. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we exalt You and praise Your Name for who You are and the wonderful things that You have done. Amen.

Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad. – 1 Chronicles 16:31

Peace that Overcomes

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in Me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world. – (John 16:33, NLT)

I have told you these things so that you can have peace in Me. In this world you will have troubles. But be brave! I have defeated the world! – (John 16:33, ERV)

Walking with God does not mean that our lives will be without trouble or trial, but rather it is a promise that we will have the peace of His presence and the hope of His help, as He who is in us is far greater than anything that could come against us. Every year, this is the time that people begin to look ahead in anticipation of all that is yet to come. For many, this is a space of fearful uncertainty. Not one of us can predict all that lies ahead, but when we place our trust in Christ, we can be certain that whatever comes, we will not be in it alone. God will go before us, walk beside us, and surround us, to make certain that we know His nearness and His peace. Nothing is unexpected to Him, and He already knows the outcome before the day begins. Our help and our hope are in the Lord, and we need to trust Him to lead us each new day. May we look to the Lord to be our peace, and take heart in His goodness as we prepare to move forward into a brand new year.

The Lord is my strength,IMG_1849

My hope and my song;

Where all peace is found,

Despite what goes on.

Even in trials,

In sorrow and fear;

With Christ there is peace,

Because He is near.

So choose to take heart,

Rise up and proclaim;

Peace that is for us,

Who trust Jesus’ Name.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that no matter what lies ahead, we can have peace in You. Thank You that You have already overcome all that might come against us. Thank You that Your Spirit in us is far greater than all that attempts to overwhelm us. Forgive us for our fearfulness of that which is yet to come, and teach us to trust You more so that we would look fearlessly to the future. Help us to see things through Your eyes and not our own, so that the things that seem overwhelming to us, could be viewed as the simple to You. Show us how to love those around us in a way that provides peace and comfort in a seemingly chaotic world. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we trust You and Your peace regardless of the trials that come our way. Amen.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; …write them on the tablet of your heart. – Proverbs 3:3

Let Our Hearts Listen

Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all wisdom He gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. – (Colossians 3:16, NLT)

We are called to pursue the Lord and all that He has to offer. The truth of His word fills our hearts and lives if we give room to allow it in. Even more, Christ calls us to share what we learn with those around us. As we choose to allow the richness of life rooted in our Redeemer to take hold, we learn and grow, plant and sow, with wisdom that comes from the Lord. In growth, comes gratitude. May we pursue the Lord and all He brings to our lives, and respond to His goodness and grace with songs of gratitude that flow from a thankful heart.

May God’s holy word,grasping-the-greatness-of-love

Fill our hearts and lives;

So we can offer,

The hope that He gives.

As we are filled up,

May we do the same;

Share of God’s goodness,

With truth we proclaim.

Let us sing out songs,

To God, give our praise;

May gratitude flow,

To Christ all our days.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that Your word fills our lives and gives us the capacity to share of Your goodness and wisdom with those around us. Forgive us for not allowing the truth of Your word to sink in and take root. Teach us to slow down and listen to all that You have to say, so that we might be filled with all that You have to offer. Show us how to love those around us in such a way, that they may recognize Your redemption through our actions. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we are intentional to seek You and allow Your word to fill us to overflowing. Amen.

Praise for His Plans

Lord, You are my God, I will exalt You and praise Your Name, for in perfect faithfulness You have done wonderful things, things planned long ago. – (Isaiah 25:1, NIV)

O Lord, I will honor and praise Your Name, for You are my God; You do such wonderful things! You planned them long ago, and now You have accomplished them, just as You said! – (Isaiah 25:1, TLB)

God deserves all of our honor and praise. He is perfect in all of His ways, and is always faithful. What He speaks, He is faithful to fulfill, and all of the wonderful things that we experience were planned long in advance. The Lord loves us, and knows our needs. In His goodness and grace, He is present and has prepared a path before us that leads us to life everlasting. May we exalt our God and praise His Name, for He is faithful to do all that He says He will do.

Lord, You are my God,Marvelously Made

I exalt Your Name;

for Your faithfulness,

and truth You proclaim.

For all that is good,

You planned long ago;

You spoke forth Your word,

and then made it so.

May I remember,

to always give praise;

for Your faithfulness,

throughout all my days.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You are my God and that You are perfect in Your faithfulness. Thank You that You have done wonderful things that You planned long ago. Thank You that You receive our worship and praise, as You alone deserve all. Forgive us for not recognizing Your faithfulness in the wonders all around us, and for not giving You proper praise for who You are and how You love. Teach us to trust You more, so that we would exalt You in all things and at all times, as we always have evidence of Your faithfulness all around us. Show us how to love others, so that they might come to understand Your faithfulness too. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we honor and praise Your Name, for who You are, and all that You do. Amen.

Enter With Thanksgiving

Enter His gates with thanksgiving; go into His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and praise His Name. – (Psalm 100:4)

Before Christ came, people had to go to the temple to be in the presence of God. To truly present their thanks, praise and offerings, they had to physically go to the temple courts and partake in a rigorous routine. Today, we can enter His gates with thanksgiving and go into His courts with praise, any hour of any day. Christ dwells within our very own heart, if we choose only to invite Him in. When we give thanks to God and praise His Name, it is as if we are in the throne room itself, because of God with us, through the Holy Spirit. Because we are blessed as believers to have Christ with us at all times, we always have reason to give Him thanks and praise. May we choose to rise up and enter His gates with thanksgiving and go into His courts with praise, not for what is going on around us, but for who He is within us.

May each heart enter,Enter With Thanksgiving

His gates full of thanks;

go into His courts,

to offer God praise.

For this is a space,

found within our heart;

as we recognize,

where the throne room starts.

We need not look far,

for the Lord is near;

our help and our hope,

each prayer He will hear.

All thanks be to God,

give praise to His Name;

for He is so good,

let our hearts proclaim.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that we can enter Your gates with thanksgiving and go into Your courts with praise directly, without having to travel far, nor participate in rigorous rituals to be made right before You. Thank You for the gift of Your Son, who made the way for us to be seen as clean before You. Thank You, Jesus, for bearing all of our sin and shame, so that we could be viewed as acceptable and worthy to worship before You. Forgive us for taking the magnitude of Your sacrifice for granted, or for not giving proper thanks and praise unto You. Teach us to have hearts that overflow with thanksgiving for who You are, as You alone are worthy of all thanks and praise. Lead us to love others in such a way, that they too, may find reason to offer thanks. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be exalted O God, as we enter Your gates with thanksgiving and go into Your courts with praise. Amen.

Proclaim with Praise to All People

Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim His greatness. Let the whole world know what He has done. – (Psalm 105:1, NLT)

For His unfailing love, let us give thanks. As benefactors of life and breath and our very being, we have reason to proclaim the greatness of our God. There is only One who willingly bore the weight of our sin and shame, so that we could have new life in Him. Our cleansing through Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, is reason that we ought to go forth and freely share of the love that we have been given. May the whole world come to know what He has done, as we give thanks to the Lord and proclaim His greatness.

Give thanks to the Lord,OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

as we share His love;

proclaiming how great,

is our God above.

May the whole world know,

what the Lord has done;

to make way for us,

through His precious Son.

All that we’ve done wrong,

the Lord wipes away;

as He took our place,

in punishment’s stay.

Yet not even death,

could defeat our King;

He rose from the grave,

by power He brings.

The very same strength,

that brought Love to life;

dwells within our hearts,

as we let faith rise.

Dear Heavenly Father, we give all thanks to You and proclaim Your greatness. Help us to let the whole world know what You have done, for in You, we have life and breath and hope and a future. Forgive us for not giving thanks often enough, and for not speaking of just how great You are to all whom we encounter. Teach us to trust You more, so that our every word and deed would speak the truth of Your greatness before them. Lead us to love others with Your loving kindness. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we give thanks to You and proclaim Your greatness and the wonder of all that You have done before all the world. Amen.

Give Thanks As We Proclaim

Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim His greatness. Let the whole world know what He has done. – (1 Chronicles 16:8, NLT)

In my early twenties, I had the rare opportunity to be a part of Youth With A Mission, and saw firsthand, the carrying out of the great commission in action. We were able to go out to the ends of the earth and tell the world of what He has done. The teams that I was a part of traveled to Thailand, India, China, Bangladesh, Macau and Hong Kong (before it was turned back over to China). Trains, planes, boats, rickshaws, backpacks up mountains, and living among some of the world’s poorest, were part of our daily adventures. It was an exciting time, and as we gave thanks to the Lord and proclaimed His greatness, we could see, firsthand, how we were letting the world know what He had done.

After returning from such an adventurous lifestyle, it took quite a mind shift to recognize that I could still impact the world through giving thanks and proclaiming who God is. What I discovered as I began teaching in the city in which I was raised, is that the population had become very global. Though I was not going out into all of the world, all of the world was coming into my classroom on a daily basis. Seeds of kindness that I began to plant, were God’s to water and grow.

For years I have utilized writing as a personal outlet, rarely allowing anyone else to read what God had written on my heart. A few years ago, a dear friend who I did allow to read my writing from time to time, began to encourage me to consider sharing my writing with a larger circle. Though terrified, I ventured to spread the circle a bit wider. The few became a few more, and blogging was birthed in me. Today, the thrill of seeing the flag of another nation representing a person who has viewed what God is showing me, is overwhelming. God alone is worthy of all of our thanks and praise, for He is great and has done remarkable things! May we go forth this day and let the world know what He has done, as we live a life full of thanks.

All thanks be to God,Give Thanks As We Proclaim

and let us proclaim;

of the Lord’s greatness,

oh most Holy Name.

May all of the earth,

come know what He’s done;

through His love and grace,

He gave us His Son.

Merciful Father,

makes the way for us;

embrace eternal,

through the Lord Jesus.

Lord, You are so good,

You take what we bring;

and accept us each,

as pure offerings.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You are so great and mighty. Thank You that You allow us to be a part of the great commission, wherever we are. Thank You that we can share Your love with the ends of the earth, whether we travel or stay at home. Forgive us for thinking that we cannot make a difference, or for staying silent when we ought to be proclaiming the greatness of who You are. Teach us to trust You more, so that we would use our words and deeds to appropriately express our gratitude unto You in all things and at all times. Lead us to love others in a way that sows seeds of Your goodness and grace deep into their hearts. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we give You thanks and proclaim Your greatness wherever we may be. Amen.

Your righteousness reaches to the skies, O God, You who have done great things.  Who, O God, is like You? – Psalm 71:19

The Voice of Truth

Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. – (Luke 12:7)

Our value is determined by God, not by man. He created us individually and intentionally. He knows us so intimately that He is aware of even the most minute detail about us. Our worth is not dictated by what others proclaim. The same God who does not forget even one of the sparrows, is very aware of each one of us. We need not fear, even in the most dire of circumstances, for our hope is secure for all of eternity when we place our trust in Him. No matter what comes in this life, nothing can take away from the eternal promises of God. This hope we hold is our safety and security both now and forevermore. May we embrace the goodness and grace of God, who knows and loves us so completely, that there is no detail about us that is not known by Him.

The hairs on our heads,Be Silent Before Him

are numbered and known;

by God who is love,

wise King on the throne.

We need not hold fear,

we’re seen through His eyes;

counted and valued,

more than realized.

Our worth is not deemed,

by any mere man;

but rather by God,

made us with a plan.

Each with a purpose,

meant to go fulfill;

to embrace the Lord,

and pursue His will.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You know us individually and intimately. Thank You that You know every detail about us, and yet You love. Thank You that perfect love casts out fear. Thank You that our value is not determined by any person on this planet, but only by You, who created us with purpose. Forgive us for listening to the lies that people tell us about our worth, and help us to seek You to discover the truth. Lead us to love well, so that we pour into the lives of those around us, pointing them to the truth of who they are in You. May many come to know You as their Savior and King. Be glorified O God, as we seek You and trust You to lead us and guide us, and be the voice of truth in all things. Amen.

Shout aloud and sing for joy. – Isaiah 12:6

A Pleasing Sacrifice

Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise – the fruit of lips that confess His Name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. – (Hebrews 13:15-16)

The word sacrifice took on new meaning when Christ went to the cross. No longer was it a way of offering something in exchange for a temporary cleansing from one’s unrighteousness, but rather Jesus exchanged His life for ours, so that no more would such offerings be required. To sacrifice now, means to willingly give of oneself; to surrender all that we are, for who we are called to become. When we offer praise and extend kindness to others, especially those who deserve it not, we are offering a sacrifice of self unto the Lord. This is the very sort of sacrifice that is pleasing before God. Both actions, actively demonstrate love for God and love for others, which is exactly what He calls us to do. May we seek the Lord anew each day, with a sweet sacrifice of praise on our lips and hands that are ready to serve and share with others, all that He has given us to offer.

Let us each awake,Presenting Our Praise

and offer God praise;

for all that He is,

both now and always.

Let our lips confess,

the truth of His Name;

as we go in faith,

and in love proclaim.

May we choose to share,

all that we’re given;

for without the Lord,

there’d be no living.

With hands set to serve,

feet ready to go;

wherever He calls,

may His love be shown.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that because of what Jesus did on the cross, we are able to come before You, continually, offering our sacrifice of praise. Thank You that as we choose to worship You and to love others, our giving of ourselves is an acceptable and pleasing sacrifice before You. Forgive us for neglecting the needs of those around us, or for not giving You proper praise for Who You are and all that You do. Teach us to trust You more, so that we will recognize quickly, Your hand and heart in all things, and that we would see others through Your eyes. Lead us to love others as You so generously love each of us. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we continually offer a sacrifice of praise to You, and do good and share with others. Amen.

Invisible Qualities Clearly Seen

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – His eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. – (Romans 1:20)

The hand of God is evident everywhere. One cannot go beyond the boundary of their own home, before the senses are assaulted with the beauty of creation. All that is seen from the earth to the sky, has been created by the mighty hand of God. Each of us, within us, has a space that knows there is One greater than us, by whom we were created. We have a free will and the choice to either accept or reject the truth; but regardless of our choice, the truth remains.

The heavens proclaim His righteousness, and all the peoples see His glory. – (Psalm 97:6)

God in His goodness is visible, even to those who are not searching. How much more available is His heart to the world through us? Though God makes His eternal power and divine nature visible through all that He has created; that is only part of the story. Without people willing to share of His Son, who He sent into the world to set us free from our sin and shame, they’d never know the power of Christ’s redemption, nor of the Spirit’s direction. God grants both total forgiveness through the sacrifice of His Son, and guidance and direction for our lives through His Holy Spirit. His invisible qualities are made tangible as we invest our lives and hearts in Him. May we allow the Lord to lead us so that He who is eternal, may be clearly seen and understood by all.

Since the dawn of time,sunset (2)

God’s work has been seen;

through hand-painted skies,

to glowing moonbeams.

Wherever we look,

there is evidence;

of One far greater,

than our circumstance.

The heavens proclaim,

of His righteousness;

all see His glory,

through His faithfulness.

Yet, how will they see,

that there is much more;

forgiveness and grace,

Jesus, our Savior?

It is up to us,

to choose listen well;

to do what Christ asks,

and of His truth, tell.

For if we don’t speak,

then how will they know?

Each one needs the chance,

to learn and to grow.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that Your invisible qualities have been clearly seen through the splendor of all that You have created. Thank You that You did not simply stop with glorious creation, but You sent Your one and only Son to set us free from the bonds of sin in which we had become entangled. Forgive us for not embracing the grace and goodness that You have given, or for keeping quiet when You provide us opportunity to share of all that You have done for us. Teach us to trust You more, so that we will go forth boldly, wherever You call us to go. Lead us to love others in such a way, that they can clearly see Your heart through ours. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we observe Your glory all around us and go forth and tell of all that You have done. Amen.
