I pray that God, the Source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. – (Romans 15:13, NLT)

I pray that the God who gives hope will fill you with much joy and peace as you trust in Him. Then you will have more and more hope, and it will flow out of you by the power of the Holy Spirit. – (Romans 15:13, ERV)

I pray that God, the Source of all hope, will infuse your lives with an abundance of joy and peace in the midst of your faith so that your hope will overflow through the power of the Holy Spirit. – (Romans 15:13, VOICE)

These words were among Paul’s letter to the Romans, as he gave them glimpses of his faith prior to visiting them in person. His prayer for the people was powerful, for who would not appreciate a life infused with an abundance of joy, peace and hope? Such prayer is still available and applicable to us today, as we are filled with hope, peace and joy when we trust in Him. Furthermore, we become infused with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit within us when we allow our hearts and minds to align with His. May we ever place our trust in God, as He fills us by His Spirit to overflowing, with hope, peace and joy.

When we come and pray,Asking for Amazing Answers

Seek God, hope’s true Source;

We find joy and peace,

As He guides our course.

In our space of trust,

He’ll faithfully show;

That confident faith,

From our hearts shall flow.

Be filled with His peace,

And joy trusting Him;

As we share His hope,

We’re filled up again.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You are our Source of hope, and that You fill us completely with Your joy and Your peace when we trust in You. Thank You that by Your Holy Spirit, You grow in us a confident hope that overflows. Forgive us for our fickle faith that falters when the unexpected occurs. Teach us to have an unshakable, unwavering confident hope in You, that trusts no matter what we see. Show us how to love in a way that overflows the hope that we have through the power of Your Holy Spirit within us. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we trust You to be our joy and peace, and to fill us to overflowing with hope in You. Amen.

May God Almighty grant you mercy. – Genesis 43:14

Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. – (Psalm 51:10, NLT)

God, create a pure heart in me, and make my spirit strong again. – (Psalm 51:10, ERV)

Create in me a clean heart, O God; restore within me a sense of being brand new. – (Psalm 51:10, VOICE)

My heart feels a bit messy. It is not anything in particular, but rather a collection of things that simply build up and begin to get the best of me. I rarely get sick, and am currently attempting to fend off some sort of sinus infection, and know that my resistance is down. The little things that I typically brush off, are wearing, and I know that much of my present heart state, is the overflow of my physical well-being. This, this is where I must run to Him again, and pray this prayer, as the crud that is building needs to be cleansed as only Christ can do. As He washes away the things that wear me down, a renewed sense of His strength returns and I am better equipped to navigate my days. May we each seek the Lord and His cleansing to wash away that which wears us down, and trust in His strength to renew us once again.

Oh Lord, here I stand,Clean Inside Out

Seeking only You;

For I am in need,

Of what You can do.

I need a clean heart,

A spirit made new;

Your strength breathed in me,

Help me lean on You.

Restore unto me,

Your strength and Your song;

So that I am clean,

Resilient and strong.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You hear our prayers. Thank You that You cleanse us and restore a strong spirit within us when we seek You. Thank You that this is not something that we need to figure out how to do on our own, but rather it is as we come to You, that we find the new. Forgive us for allowing life to wear us down without taking the time to rest in You. Show us how to seek You and trust You for all that we need from moment to moment, rather than just when we begin to reach our breaking point. Help us to love those around us well, so that we can extend the love and grace that gives Your strength to all those in need. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we come to You for cleansing, strength and restoration, often, as You never turn us away. Amen.

The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. – Psalm 145:8

Though this is my prayer for all, it is lifted intentionally for my pastors and their family today, as this will be their final Sunday serving our church family. They are leaving to answer a calling that is clear only in the where, but not particularly certain as to what it will entail. Their hearts to serve and obey have been transparent and exemplars of true servant leaders, as they have been raw and real about the struggle to walk out this new path, as their hearts are so securely planted here. Sorrow, anticipation and uncertainty surround this transition for all. Not one of us is sure of what the “new” will look like, but we all have the assurance that God has not orchestrated this by accident. We have the hope that He has good things in store for each of us, and in Him, we can find joy and peace as we choose trust, despite our despair over our losses. May the God of all hope fill you completely with joy and peace as you trust in Him, and may you overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

In uncertainty,hope-overflowing

The sweet Prince of Peace;

Fills us with His hope,

And joy He’ll release.

As we trust in Him,

Confidence shall rise;

And hope overflows,

His Spirit supplies.

Let us place our trust,

Where all grace is found;

And boldly go forth,

As His hope abounds.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that as we trust You, You fill us with Your joy and peace, and provide hope in abundance so that it will flow from us by Your Spirit. Thank You for the gift that You have given me and so many through Pastors Jon and Wendy and their family. Please fill them completely with Your joy and peace because they trust in You. May they overflow with confident hope by Your Spirit to all whom they encounter in their new community. Bless them as they are such a blessing to others. Forgive us for not trusting You enough. Teach us to trust as You alone are trustworthy. Fill us with Your joy and peace so that we may pass the same on to those around us. Show us how to love as we are loved by You. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we trust You completely, and in turn overflow with the confident hope that we receive by the power of Your Holy Spirit. Amen.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort. – 2 Corinthians 1:3

The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. – (Lamentations 3:22, NLT)

How enduring is God’s loyal love; the Eternal has inexhaustible compassion. – (Lamentations 3:22, VOICE)

Unlike people, the Lord’s love knows no limits. He is faithful forever to pour out His mercy and grace, so that we might be drawn to seek His face. The Lord loves not because we are worthy, but because He is eternally and inexhaustibly good. May we seek our Savior so that the very same mercy and faithful love that we are given by God, might also flow from us to all those whom we encounter. Let His kindness and compassion be clearly reflected in our conduct each day.

Let the Lord’s light shine,IMG_2491

Wherever we go;

In all that we do,

So people may know.

The Lord, He is good,

His love never ends;

Forever endures,

And He calls us friends.

Compassion poured out,

For He sees each need;

Great merciful God,

Grants life as He leads.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that Your faithful love never ends! Thank You that Your mercies are new every morning, and that they never cease. Thank You for Your inexhaustible compassion, though we don’t deserve it. Forgive us for our faithlessness and lack of compassion towards those around us. Teach us to trust You more, so that we would receive all that You offer, and operate out of the overflow of our hearts that have been filled by You. Show us how to love faithfully and compassionately, granting mercy to those who need it most. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we faithfully love others as we are loved by You. Amen.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort. – 2 Corinthians 1:3

The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. – (Galatians 5:6b, NIV)

We are called to do two things: Love God, and love people. If we, by faith, choose to pursue a life of doing both, we seek to honor and serve the Lord as an expression of our love to Him. Additionally, the more in tune with God we become, the more naturally we pour out to others, from the overflow of our hearts. As we understand the love and sacrifice that has been given unto us, how much more do we desire to love well, all those who are around us? May we choose to actively pursue a life of faith expressed in love, both toward God, who is love, and to all those who surround us.

All of our efforts,the-only-thing-that-counts

To try to be good;

Are wasted, in vain,

Lest love’s understood.

For God does not want,

A list of what’s done;

He wants us to love,

Just as did His Son.

Our faith in the Lord,

Will help us express;

The love that’s in us,

The way that is best.

At the end of days,

What shall count above;

Is our faith in God,

And how we chose love.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that what counts to You is our faith expressing itself through love. Thank You that You do not leave us to muster up enough faith to love well, but rather as we pursue You, You meet us and equip us with faith that expresses itself naturally through loving You and others well. Forgive us for not choosing to love when it is difficult. Teach us to trust You more, so that we would love the seemingly unlovable, as they often are those who need Your love made tangible the most. Grant us wisdom to know when to persist and when to walk away. Lead us to be Your heart and voice of love to those around us. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we pursue You with all that we are, and in faith, love You and love people as we have been called. Amen.

Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. – 2 Corinthians 3:5

Real wisdom, God’s wisdom, begins with a holy life and is characterized by getting along with others. It is gentle and reasonable, overflowing with mercy and blessings, not hot one day and cold the next, not two-faced. – (James 3:17, MSG)

But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. – (James 3:17, NLT)

True wisdom that is gained as we trust in God, is made evident by the fruit that it bears. When we walk in that which the Lord provides, our lives demonstrate the character of Christ. The wisdom of God leads to a holy life that is displayed through gentleness and peace, and our every interaction with others overflow with mercy and blessings, and are always sincere. May we ever seek the Lord and His wisdom, so that we may live holy lives, characterized by mercy and goodness to all.

Brings a holy life;

Full of gentleness,

Our calmer of strife.

He’s full of mercy,

And great blessings too;

He’s always sincere,

For His love is true.

So let us seek Him,

Both now and always;

Our source of wisdom,

For all of our days.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that real wisdom comes from You. Thank You that when we seek You, You meet us and transform us to become more like You. Thank You that as we are transformed, we begin to live more like You. Thank You that wisdom leads to a holy life that is gentle and peace loving, full of mercy and goodness to others. Forgive us for failing to listen to the wisdom You provide, and for being harsh or unkind. Teach us to trust You more, so that we would love as You love. Show us how to be full of mercy, extending gentleness and peace at all times. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we seek You and Your wisdom to lead us and guide us as we go forth each day. Amen.

Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad. – 1 Chronicles 16:31

On a good day, enjoy yourself; On a bad day, examine your conscience. God arranges for both kinds of days so that we won’t take anything for granted. – (Ecclesiastes 7:14, MSG)

Everyone has good days and bad days. A bad day does not mean a bad life. If Christ is in our hearts and lives, then we are blessed to know Him. On our best days, we are aware of His abundant blessings, as there seems to be an overflow of goodness and grace that we are given. Conversely, on our most difficult days, everything feels like a battle. However, even in the throes of the fight, when the Lord is our light, we have help and hope; the blessed assurance that things will get better, and God’s presence and strength in the meantime. May we embrace His grace on good days and bad, and rest assured that He is with us and will use every experience to refine us further into who we are meant to become.

On good days and bad,Answers As We Ask

Let us each embrace;

What we’re meant to learn,

In light of His grace.

He gives help and hope,

When our days are tough;

His strength and His peace,

Are always enough.

When all things go well,

And the blessings flow;

Give thanks to the Lord,

For what He’s made known.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that we experience both good and bad days, so that we can truly appreciate the benefit of each. On the good days, we praise You for the blessings that You pour out upon us, and on the bad, we thank You for Your grace and Your presence that see us through. Forgive us for our grumbling, as no one enjoys the days that are a struggle. Teach us to trust You more, so that we would praise You in all things and at all times, with thanks for all that You show us and teach us in every circumstance. Show us how to love others through their best and worst days, so that they may come to a place where they long to give You praise. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be exalted O God, as we thank You for every experience that we walk through, knowing that You will use each one for our benefit. Amen.

Listen… be wise, and keep your heart on the right path. – Proverbs 23:19

I pray that God, the Source of all hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him.

As we trust in God, He grants us hope and fills our hearts with joy and peace. The more we hold fast to the truth of His word, the more freely it flows from us to others. The Holy Spirit within, equips and empowers us to have confidence in the hope that we hold in Christ. Our joy and peace are not dependent on what is around us, but rather on He who dwells within us. May we place our trust in the God of all hope, as He will fill us with joy and peace – simply because we have chosen to trust in Him. Give praise for the confident hope that shall come by His Spirit, because we have chosen Christ.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You are the Source of all hope. Thank You that You fill us completely with joy and peace as we trust in You. Thank You that You grow Your hope within us more and more, by the power of Your Holy Spirit dwelling in our hearts. Forgive us for losing sight of our Source of hope, and allowing our joy and peace to be hidden in the shadows of our own struggles. Teach us to trust You more, so that we would not allow our circumstances to dictate what lasts in our hearts – as when we trust in You, joy and peace are ours in spite of our struggles. Show us how to love others in such a way, that they too may see the hope we have in You as our Source of joy and peace, even when it makes no sense for us to have either. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be exalted O God, as we trust in You completely, and allow Your joy and peace to flood our hearts as You grow the hope within us more and more. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. – Psalm 23:6

Thank the Lord for His faithful love and for the amazing things He does for people. – (Psalm 107:8, ERV)

As I stand in a space of reflection, and look back upon what has been a year full of challenges and trials in a space of learning to navigate this new that I have been called into, I can see clearly how faithful the love of the Lord has been with me, and can tell of countless amazing things that He has done for us along the way. He has provided friends that have become family, resources that I did not have, peace where there should have been none, and calm in the midst of chaos (to name just a few). Let all that I am give praise to the Lord, for He is so faithful; always. May we each give pause today to look back and remember the faithful love of the Lord, and give Him thanks for all that He has done for us.

Give thanks to the Lord,Enter With Thanksgiving

for His faithfulness;

He comes as our calm,

His mercy and grace,

are granted to us.

Let us give Him thanks,

for He is so good;

each day offer praise,

for hope understood.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your faithful love that does not end, and for the amazing things that You do for us. Thank You that You loved us so much that You gave Your very life for ours, so that we could be made right before You, and have life forever in You. Thank You for Your mercy and grace that You freely give, despite how undeserving we are. Forgive us for forgetting the amazing things that You have done, and how faithful Your love is for us. Teach us to trust You more, so that we would have hearts that overflow with gratitude for who You are and all that You have done for us. Show us how to love others out of the overflow of all that You have given to us. May many come into a lasting relationship with You.
