His Compassion Never Fails

Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope:
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. – (Lamentations 3:21-23)

                                                                                                                                                                                                                        As I navigate my way through nearing the one-year mark since we lost my dear friend, Anne, the truth found in this passage resonates within me. Hope is assured in Him, both in the security of knowing that Anne is dwelling in His presence forever, and in the promise that I too, will one day join her in His glorious grace, for all of eternity. His love prevents my heart from becoming overwhelmed by grief, and His compassion reminds me of His continual presence and ongoing comfort as He transforms the sorrow into sweet remembrances of a beloved sister and friend. Each day as I wake, His mercies are made new again. How great His faithfulness remains, always. May we call to mind His mercies that are made new every morning, and trust His faithfulness to keep us from being consumed.

Each morning I wake,His Compassion Never Fails
and I call to mind;
the truth of Your love,
new mercies I find.
Your love is so great,
I’ll not be consumed;
and Your faithfulness,
each day is renewed.
Help my heart to hope,
when all hope seems lost;
for You paid the price,
the ultimate cost.
No matter what comes,
our future’s secure;
if we hope in You,
Your promise is clear.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that when we trust in You, we have hope for all of our days. Thank You that because of Your great love for us, we will not be consumed by anything that may come against us. Thank You that Your compassions never fail us, and that they are new every single morning. Thank You that Your faithfulness is beyond what we can comprehend. Forgive us for our fearfulness and our growing faint in heart when the storm strikes against us. Help us to hold fast to You, our Safe Harbor in the storm, and our security no matter what comes. May we live and love as You call and equip us to, and may many come to know Your compassion and faithfulness as a result. Let lives be changed and hearts hold fast to You forever. Be exalted as we embrace Your compassions that are new every morning. Amen.

God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me. – Genesis 21:6

Abide

Abide. What a beautiful, yet at times, elusive word. To remain, continue, stay, or even await, in the context of Christ, is the place my heart hides best. A dear friend has found herself in a space where her only instruction from the Lord is to simply, ABIDE. Since first hearing, I often think about how I am meant to abide as well. My discovery, is that to abide is a daily decision to walk with Him – in His grace, His love and His peace. It does not necessarily come naturally, but rather is rooted in choice after choice after choice.

Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vines, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. – (John 15:4, NKJV)

For anything good to come out of us, we must be firmly rooted and established in Christ. May our lives be so intertwined with His, that we cannot help but bear good fruit that lasts. All glory and honor to Him, now and forevermore.

Come all you weary,

for He’ll grant us rest;Darkness into Light

come all you broken,

He’ll repair our mess.

As we choose to come,

be still and abide;

allow Him access,

to darkness we hide.

For His light’s greater,

than our dark despair;

healing and wholeness,

He grants us, right there.

Throw out what hinders,

with hearts open wide;

He’s faithful always,

as we choose abide.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that as we abide in You, You abide in us too. Thank You that You are faithful always, and that Your mercies are new every morning. Thank You that as we abide in You, You grow us and strengthen us, so that we may be utilized to touch lives on Your behalf. Thank You that You take us as we are, and turn our past struggles into stories of Your faithfulness to share. Forgive us for our fears and frustrations as we face the fire, and grant us Your eyes to see and Your strength to endure. May we live and love in Your strength as we opt to abide in You, and may many lives be changed as they come to know the truth. Be glorified, O God, as we abide. Amen.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort. – 2 Corinthians 1:3

Let the Morning Bring Word

Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You. Show me the way I should go, for to You I lift up my soul. – (Psalm 143:8)

Each new day, we have a choice to trust anew. What I have found, is that as I am intentional with my time each morning with the Lord, He is faithful to show me His unfailing love, and guide me in the ways in which I am meant to go. My mere offering of self, is met by our loving Lord, who is faithful to answer, and worthy of all of our trust. May this new morning bring word unto you of His unfailing, unrelenting love for you too.

Early each morning,IMG_0070

as I choose to rise;

my Savior meets me,

with His loving eyes.

He shows me His love,

as I read His word;

He speaks to my heart,

true tenderness heard.

As I choose to trust,

He shows me the way;

that I’m meant to go,

in His will, I’ll stay.

He lifts up my soul,

when life brings me down;

and calls me His child,

for in Him, I’m found.

Such a tiny gift,

whatever we bring;

yet He welcomes us,

as true offerings.

And in His great love,

He grants us much more;

He cleanses, renews,

His Spirit – outpours.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that the morning does bring word of Your unfailing love, and that Your mercies are new every morning. Thank You that we can place our trust in You, and You are faithful to show us the way we should go. Thank You that as we lift our hearts to You, You meet us where we are, and grow us to so much more in You. Forgive us for our fears and doubts, and help us to trust You in all things and at all times. Teach us to hear You clearly, and to then walk in obedience to the words You whisper to our hearts. May many come to know You as we love You and love others, as You have called us to do. Be exalted, O God, as we trust You anew this morning. Amen.

He will fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy. – Job 8:21

His Mighty Power

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. – (Ephesians 6:10)

We are not called to buck up, suck it up, and stand up in our own strength, but rather, we are called to be strong in Christ. In order to be strong in His power, we must recognize that we have reached the end of our own. When we are weak, His strength is at the ready – available and waiting for us to call on Him to be in charge. As we place our trust in Him, He is given room to move, as only Christ can do. His power is made perfect, when our ego is out of the way.

Lord, without You,His Mighty Power

we’ve no strength at all;

for You alone,

hear each time we call.

You are patient,

as You hear each word;

faithful and kind,

with all that is heard.

You grant us strength,

when our strength is gone;

so we can stand,

rise up and press on.

Where we give trust,

You give all the more;

Your mighty strength,

our hope is assured.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that it is only by Your strength, that we may be strong. Thank You that You supply what we need to endure the trials that come our way, and that our ability to stand does not come from ourselves, but rather, it is all from You. Thank You that Your power is made perfect in our weakness. Thank You that You renew and refresh us each day, and that Your mercies are made new every morning. Thank You that Your faithfulness never ends. Forgive us for allowing our hearts to attempt to stand in our own strength, and help us to let down our walls before You, trusting that You are more than enough to see us through. Thank You that in You, we may be strong in Your mighty power. May many come to know Your saving grace, as we allow You to be the strength of our lives. Let those who are looking, find You. Be glorified, as we live and love in Your strength, not ours. Amen.

As you know, we consider blessed those who have persevered. – James 5:11

The Wonder of Warmth

We have been experiencing extra frigid temperatures, not typical for our area, throughout this week. Though my boys are quite warm-blooded, it is a bit brisk, even for them. That being said, they will often try to walk out of the house without a coat. Though they have access to several warm layers, they opt to attempt an exit without one. As a parent, I am able to insist that they go back into the house and properly layer for the elements outdoors.

So often, it seems, this is how society views Jesus. They are aware of Him, yet set Him aside and go on without Him, thinking that they will be okay on their own. Just as having a coat does not keep us warm unless we actually wear it, so does Christ do nothing for us until we choose to receive His salvation. When we receive what has been freely given, we go forth, clothed in His grace, and grow in the gifts that He has imparted in us. The more we know Him, the more we desire to spend intentional time seeking to serve and know Him better. We become robed in His righteousness, and His warmth flows from us, as we invest in our walk with Him.

“This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance (and for this we labor and strive), that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe.” – (I Timothy 4:9-10)

May Your warmth, O God,The Wonder of Warmth

flow into our hearts;

may we be aware,

of each day’s fresh start.

May hearts be open,

so each shall receive;

Your grace and Your hope,

found as we believe.

As we’re clothed in You,

may our lives be light;

that shine of Your love,

our Hope and Delight.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You sent Your Son, Jesus, to be the Savior to all. Thank You that salvation is available for all who choose to believe and receive what You are offering. Thank You that we don’t have to somehow be “good enough” and earn it, but instead, it is Your amazing gift of grace, given to us because of Your great love for Your created. Forgive us for walking out the door without being clothed in You, and help us to begin each day, embracing the grace that You give, remembering that Your mercies are new every morning. Teach us how to go forth in love and in light, so that we may reflect the radiance of lives that are transformed by Your grace. May many come to know Your salvation for themselves this season. Be exalted, our great and loving God. Amen.
