Hope for Eternity

Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; He will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. – (Revelation 7:16-17)

This promise is for all of God’s children upon our arrival into our eternal home. For those who place their trust in Him, all of eternity is secure. It will be a space without hunger nor thirst. No suffering, nor pain. No sorrow, nor sadness; and God Himself, will be our comfort. Though we may endure discomfort, distress, disease or even disaster here, our hope remains in that which is forever. May we hold fast to the hope we have in Christ, who is the One to lead us to living waters forever.

No more will there be,Hope for Eternity

suffering or pain;

all will be removed,

in heaven’s domain.

The great Lamb of God,

seated on His throne;

will lead us to life,

beyond what we’ve known.

Never to hunger,

no grieving nor loss;

He’ll wipe away tears,

all placed on the cross.

Imagine the sound,

as the voices raise;

all glory to God,

who deserves all praise.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that when we come to You and receive that which You freely offer, the promises for all eternity are ours to hold. Thank You that we have Your presence with us now and that we have forever ahead of us, with no suffering nor pain. Thank You that even when we endure unpleasantness here, it is temporary, and the hope that we hold, is eternal. Forgive us for losing perspective when things get difficult. Help us to hold fast to our hope in You, and to trust You more completely. Be our strength and our hope, even in the most challenging times. Lead us to love as You love us, and may many come to know the hope we hold in You. Be glorified O God, as we live our days displaying our hope for eternity. Amen.

He who refreshes others will himself be refreshed. – Proverbs 11:25

Priests to Serve

And they sang a new song: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because You were slain, and with Your blood You purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.” – (Revelation 5:9-10)

As John was experiencing his revelation from God, I can only imagine the awe that unfolded as he watched Jesus receive the scroll, and recognize that He alone, was worthy to open it. More than that, what a treasured hope to behold the sight and sound of a choir filling the heavens, all praising God together, as all worshiped as one, from every tribe, language, people and nation. We, as believers, are being gathered unto Him, and being made priests to one day reign with Him. Our songs of praise have much to point out. He gave His life, bought ours with His, is calling us unto Him, is making us priests, and appointing us to reign on earth. May we live our lives from a posture of praise, and seek to honor Him, with all of our days.

He gave His life,The Scroll and the Seven Seals

so that we might find;

hope to behold,

and share with mankind.

The Lamb of God,

He’s worthy alone;

to open scrolls,

and sit on the throne.

He purchased men,

from every land;

paid with His life,

hope to understand.

Heaven declares,

together as one;

Christ is our hope,

defeat is now done.

Sing a new song,

all praise to the Lamb;

Who set us free,

with salvation’s plan.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You alone are worthy of all honor and praise, and that You are the One who is able to open the seals on the scrolls. Thank You that there is nothing too difficult for You, so we need not ever fear, for You are always with us. Thank You that You willingly laid down Your life for ours, so that we could have Your Spirit with us now, and dwell with You forever. Forgive us for our fears and doubts, and for all that we say and do that does not bring praise unto You. Teach us to live with the sort of trust that radiates from our very being, so that all those around us cannot help but want to know what is different about us. May we be Your hands and heart to the world. Let those who are looking, be found in You. Be exalted O God, in our every word and deed. Amen.

Splendor’s Space

photo by Joan Davis

A day will come,

when all will pass;

and streets of gold,

shall shine like glass.

No sun nor moon,

to light the day;

God’s radiance,

will be our stay.

The Lamb of God,

His splendor shine;

no more dark nights,

all glory, Thine.

He’ll wipe away,

tears from our eyes;

no death nor pain,

to realize.

For all the old,

shall pass away;

the First and Last,

will ever stay.

All those who thirst,

shall drink what lasts;

living water,

our righteous glass.

Together, we,

in glory dwell;

Christ’s family,

now eternal.

(Responding to Revelation 21:3-7, 22-27)

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that the hope we hold is not in what happens here, but rather in our home in heaven with You. Thank You that there will be a day when all pain and suffering pass away. Thank You that You will wipe away every tear, and hold us close as You draw near. Forgive us Father, for losing sight of that which truly lasts. Teach us to let our lives be lived in the hope of Your glory that is yet to come. May we present Your precious promises to people everywhere as we love as You love us. Let those who are lost, find their forever hope in You. Amen.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAnne update: Last evening, I spent a few hours with Anne and the faithful and wonderful family who are providing her a loving home and tender care. It is such a strange space to be seated near one so close to their eternal homecoming. To be both overwhelmed with sorrow, yet overjoyed with the promise of no more pain, presents time to feel very torn. As the evening wore on, and visitors had come and gone, her breathing became shallow and slow. It seemed as though she would be leaving soon. Each time Anne started to sink into a space of rest, she would startle and fight to keep going. Her pain is so great, that I could only pray that He would cradle her close and carry her home. Please pray that she would let go of the fight, and allow our Heavenly Father to take her home. May His peace that passes all understanding fill our hearts and minds, and may His perfect rest be ours to find.

Called to Choose

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe day is coming,

where we all must choose;

will we live for self,

or share the good news?

For all will be marked,

a sign of our choice;

will we join in song,

praise Him with our voice?

Only the redeemed,

shall sing the new song;

those He purified,

who’ve renounced their wrongs.

To follow the Lamb,

we must hear His voice;

our ears are opened,

when we make the choice.

He makes us blameless,

and keeps our hearts pure;

when we trust in Him,

our hope is secure.

Let roar of heaven,

may the mighty sound;

be held in our hearts,

for we have been found.

(Responding to Revelation 14:1-5)

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that when we have chosen You, we have no need to fear. Thank You that our hope in Your promises, provide permanent reason to praise You. Thank You that in You, our future is secured. Forgive us Father, for fearing the fire that falls all around us. Teach us to trust You more, so that we may stand firm forever, in the foundation You’ve forged in our hearts. May our souls soar at the sound of heaven’s song, as it resonates in the hearts of all who believe. Let our love be contagious, as You have shown us what love looks like. May many come to call You King, and present all praise unto You. Be glorified in all things and at all times. Amen.

Anne update: Anne was able to attend church yesterday for the first time in a few weeks. She went to lunch with friends, following the service. Her move has been postponed until at least Tuesday, and she continues to be held in His strong hands, and loved well where she is. Please continue to pray for healing to be hers, and for His peace and presence to permeate her every pore. Blessings to you all, beloved friends. Holding all hope in Him, Shannon

A Hint of Heaven

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERASnapshots of heaven,

the word does proclaim;

a peek to what waits,

for those in His Name.

Gathering around,

the Lamb of God’s throne;

a great multitude,

like none we have known.

A sea of faces,

from all the nations;

each wearing white robes,

proud proclamations.

Together as one,

declared with loud voice;

salvation is Yours,

and You are our choice.

Palm branches waving,

as truth is declared;

each tear wiped away,

all sin disappeared.

“After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: ‘Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.” – (Revelation 7:9-10)

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your Spirit, so that we may truly hold the hope of heaven in our hearts, as we give our lives to You. Thank You Jesus, that You have gone before us to prepare a place for us in Your eternal presence. Forgive us for fearing our earthly end, and help us to embrace the holy hope of what is yet to come. Teach us to live our lives with an eternal perspective, recognizing that both pleasure and pain on earth are fleeting, but the joy of the Lord is ours forever! May we live our lives in Your love, keeping a proper perspective on all that comes to pass. Let our love show others too, the eternal hope that is held in You. Amen.

Anne update: Though it was a very long day in the ER for Anne, as she desperately needed fluids, we were able to pack her belongings under her direction, and move her to the home of a wonderful couple that will care for her while another loving pair is preparing a permanent place in their home for Anne to reside. It is a blessing to have her within a ten-minute drive, whereas before, she was a good forty minutes away. God is so faithful to provide what she needs! Please keep contending for her healing in Christ. May His blessings be bountiful in you. With His Love, Shannon

The Beauty of Belonging

“After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb.  They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.  And they cried out in a loud voice:  Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.” – Revelation 7:9-10

The Wave - Worship Art by Rik Berry

The Wave – Worship Art by Rik Berry

The Holy Spirit revealed to John, that which is yet to come at the end of days.  The verses above give a glimpse of the scene he saw in heaven.  What a wonder to know that as a believer, though I have not done, nor cannot do anything to deserve it, but because I have accepted God’s grace and daily seek His face, I too, will one day be among those in that magnificent multitude!

My challenge today, is that the reading did not end at verse ten.  By the time I reached the end of Chapter nine, I felt ready to weep for all who still need to know Him.  I do not want for anyone to have to endure end times without eternal hope.  The faces of friends and family members who need to know Him, flashed through my head and my heart.  I guess more than anything, my takeaway today, is a call and a reminder to pray for those who still need to know Him.  When there is opportunity, I will present as I am led, but in the meantime, I will pray today, pray tomorrow, and keep praying after that.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the beauty in the promise that people from every nation, tribe and language will be gathered in purpose to praise You.  Thank You that though I am undeserving, I too, may take part in that jubilant celebration one day.  Father, please forgive me for not being more diligent to pray for my family and friends who still need to know You.  Please place people in their path that can clearly communicate Your heart to theirs, so that they too, might find their hope in You.  Lead me to be a light for You before everyone I encounter, through both my word and deed, and may many come to join in the multitude that will unite together to worship You in all of Your majesty, both on earth and in heaven.  Amen.
