The Progress of Planted Plans

May He give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. – (Psalm 20:4, NIV)

Let God grant what is in your heart and fulfill all your plans. – (Psalm 20:4, CEB)

May He grant the dreams of your heart and see your plans through to the end. – (Psalm 20:4, VOICE)

 

The dreams and desires that God plants in us, He will also bring forth to fruition as we are faithful to follow after Him. This does not mean that whatever we want, we will get; but rather it is God’s word that when our plans align with His, He will walk beside us and see things through to completion as long as we stay the course. God is faithful to honor the desires and dreams that He has grown within us. May we ever seek Him as we pursue the plans that are brought forth from the hopes held within our heart.

 

May God give to us,

Desires instilled;

So as we go forth,

His plans are fulfilled.

If we are in tune,

And following Him;

Our plans should align,

Start, middle and end.

Help our each desire,

Be to honor You;

As we seek Your will,

To live a life true.

 

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that when our hearts are after You and our plans are Your plans, You grant us the desires of our heart and make our plans succeed. Forgive us for pursuing plans that do not align with Yours. Teach us to trust You more, so that we would seek You in all things to know what is from You and what is not. Show us which way we are meant to go so that our path is made plain before us. Help us to love those around us well in a way that encourages the dreams and desires that You have planted within their hearts. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we praise You for Your presence and help as we follow the path which You have placed before us. Amen.

Your New Name

You will no longer go by the name “Abram”. Your new name will be “Abraham”, which means “father of a great multitude of nations,” because that is exactly what I will make of you. – (Genesis 17:5, VOICE)

 

God made an incredible promise to Abram, who was very advanced in years and had been hoping for a son for most of His lifetime. Abram, who became Abraham, continued to faithfully follow the Lord and God met him and spoke a promise that He also fulfilled. God not only gave him a child, but He changed his name and his hope was fulfilled far beyond what he could have imagined. Abraham became not only the father of a son, but the father to a “great multitude of nations“. The Lord is willing and waiting to do the same for us. Are we lost? He wants to rename us “found“. Are we hopeless or downcast? God is ready to call us “hope” and “joy” as He will fill us with His love. May we seek the Lord with our whole heart, and listen for His voice as He gives us a new name where we need it most.

 

More than anything, we are His…

 

What hope do we hold,

That’s yet to be filled?

Are we seeking Christ,

So faith is instilled?

For the Lord, He waits,

In love and in grace;

To grant us new names,

As we seek His face.

No more shall we be,

Downcast or alone;

There is joy in the Lord,

And by Him we’re known.

 

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that just as You changed Abram’s name to Abraham and took him from being childless to becoming the father of many nations, Your love transforms us and grants us new names as well. Thank You that You are forever faithful to those who faithfully follow You. Forgive us for our lack of faith to seek You in our hope that we hide in our hearts. Teach us to trust You more, so that we would faithfully follow You, regardless of what we see, knowing that You can do far more than we could ever hope or imagine. Show us how to love others in a way that offers hope where it is hard to find. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we embrace the grace that You grant us, and listen for the new name by which we are called by You. Amen.

Refreshment Through Repentance

After Peter and John had been used to heal a beggar in Jesus’ Name, they suddenly had a captive audience that was ready to hear what they had to say. Peter capitalized on the opportunity, as he unpacked all that had recently taken place with Jesus, before the open onlookers. As he did so, Peter pointed out (1) who Jesus was, (2) how they had rejected Him, (3) why their rejection was fatal, and (4) what they needed to do to change the situation. (NIV footnotes for Acts 3:11) The solution Peter presented was delivered a few verses later. Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord. – (Acts 3:19)

 

Restoration and refreshment from God, come when we repent and turn in trust to Him. In doing so, He wipes away all of our sin and shame, and refreshes our hearts and minds in Him. To repent, we must turn away from our own unrighteousness, and turn toward Christ. Repentance is both an act of our will and an exercise of His power within us. We cannot turn away from what entangles us if we do not trust that He will set us free. God is far greater than anything that attempts to attack or create anxiety – we however, must trust that God is who He says He is. May we turn to God, repent, and receive His refreshment.

 

The Name above all,

rejected and killed;

a fatal mistake,

change need be instilled.

The solution clear,

presented quite plain;

repent before God,

Who wipes away stains.

Refreshing shall come,

when God has been sought;

for He sets us free,

our redemption bought.

 

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that we can come to You with repentant hearts, and You receive us as we come. Thank You that You forgive us, refresh and renew us, so that we are made right before You again. Forgive us for our reluctance to repent, or for keeping hidden that which is seen by You anyway. Teach us to trust You more, so that we might keep short accounts before You, quick to confess and rapid to receive, all that You have for each of us. Lead us to love one another with the same sort of mercy and grace that You extend to each of us. May many come to know You personally, as we live and love according to Your purpose. Be glorified O God, as we repent and receive Your refreshment. Amen.
