Storm Be Still

Storm Be StillWhen sorrow rages,

much like a great storm;

and waves keep crashing,

heart heavy and torn.

Weariness has come,

as ache keeps raging;

the weight of the woes,

relentless, waging.

The flood keeps flowing,

desperate the need;

soul at last cries out,

“I’m done, Father lead.”

In but a moment,

all raging shall cease;

as tender His hands,

hold up and grant peace.

The storm shall subside,

and sweet calm will come;

reach out hands and heart,

to Comforting One.

For just as the sea,

couldn’t help but obey;

so too our sorrows,

each tear wiped away.

Wait in His presence,

in storm and in peace;

allow His great love,

wash over, increase.

(Responding to Luke 8:24)

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You are our Comfort and safe space, when the weather of the world wages war on our soul. Thank You that even in the moments of mourning, You are present, our place of peace. Thank You that when we cry out to You, You hear us and hold our heart and our hands. Forgive us for fearing we might feel too much, and help us to be aware of Your nearness when the weight seems unbearable. Thank You that You come and calm the storm in us, and allow us to be still in Your sweet presence. Teach us to trust You more, so that we are quick to surrender our sorrows to You. May our willingness to be transparent, allow many to see and come to know the holy hope that is held in You. Let many be moved into a lasting relationship with You, the Lover of our soul. Amen.

I Cry Out

I Cry Out
From the deepest place,

hidden in my heart;

I cry out to You,

please make known my part.

O Lord hear my cry,

this sorrowful voice;

may Your ears now hear,

let my heart rejoice.

Joy not for the loss,

but for Your mercy;

the kindness You’ve shown,

suffering’s defeat.

I wait on You Lord,

yes, my soul shall wait;

my hope in Your word,

Your promises made.

My trust rests in You,

as You take my hand;

please help my heart see,

my mind understand.

Oh that I’d behold,

a heavenly view;

salve for my sad soul,

a space to renew.

Mine eyes fix on You,

the true Saving Grace;

as You hold my heart,

my safe healing place.

“Out of the depths I cry to You, O Lord; O Lord, hear my voice. Let Your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy.” (Psalm 130:1-2)

“I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I put my hope.” – (Psalm 130:5)

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You hold us up when our hearts overflow with heaviness. Thank You that You are the safe space to share our sorrow. Thank You that though sadness may last for a time, Your joy will come again. Thank You that You bring beauty from our ashes, and holy hope from our despair. Forgive me for fearing the flood of emotion that waits for further release, and please hold our tender hearts in Your loving hands. Thank You that even now, You are moving mountains in hearts and minds, so that Your hope may be found and held fast by those who know You not yet. May our trust in You, even in the ache, bring hope to the hurting. May they too, find way to place all trust in You. Let Your lavish love wash over us, and may we fearlessly love those around us. Amen.

The Holy Holder of Hope

“O Israel, put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love and with Him is full redemption.” – Psalm 130:7

God’s love never fails.  God’s love forgives; and God’s love redeems.  He is the only One worthy, as He is our whole and holy hope.

Only the loving Lord can take our tragedies and turn them to triumphs, as we trust in Him.  He takes our faults and failures, forgives us, and again calls us clean.  How can we help but hold our hope in Him?

He, the One who loves us so much that He was willing to give up His only Son to suffer our shame,  bear our sin and stains, so that we could be covered in righteousness and redeemed before Him, and is way more than worthy of our whole heart.  In Him, new life is made possible, despite the impossibilities that surround us.  He hears, He sees, He loves, and He redeems, as He is the giver of every good gift we are granted.

He asks for our hope and our heart, and in return, He redeems our wreckage and raises us up, calling us His sons and daughters, granting us a holy heritage and the hope of our eternal heavenly home with Him.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that Your love is unfailing and unending, and is available and abundant for all who ask.  Thank You that in Your perfect love, You made way for not only our forgiveness, but for our redemption, so that we might be completely restored to a right relationship with You.  Thank You Lord that You are worthy of all worship, and that You hold our every hope in Your holy hands.  Teach us, lead us, forgive and love us, so that we might walk in full acceptance of Your unfailing love and remarkable redemption, as we share the hope held in You, our Heavenly Father.  Amen.
