Hope Overflows

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. – (Romans 15:13, NIV)

I pray that the God who gives hope will fill you with much joy and peace as you trust in Him. Then you will have more and more hope, and it will flow out of you by the power of the Holy Spirit. – (Romans 15:13, ERV)

I pray that God, the Source of all hope, will infuse your lives with an abundance of joy and peace in the midst of your faith so that your hope will overflow through the power of the Holy Spirit.  – (Romans 15:13, VOICE)

God, who is our hope, is the giver of joy and peace as we trust in Him. The more we trust, the more His hope flows through us to pass it on. Hope can be contagious. As His hope is made evident in us, others too, discover hope to which they may hold. May we ever pray that He who is hope, will infuse the lives of those around us with abundant joy and peace, so that they too may lay hold of the hope that is found in Christ alone.

Let hope fill our hearts,0316191100510225620313270911.jpg

As great joy and peace;

Come forth as we trust,

His grace is released.

We’ll find more and more,

Our loving God gives;

Hope overflowing,

All we need to live.

And not to survive,

But in Him, live well;

Hope in abundance,

While in Him we dwell.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You are the God of all hope who grants us joy and peace as we trust in You. Thank You that hope is contagious. Forgive us for not digging in when hope is difficult. Teach us to trust You more, so that we may ever be holders of hope. Show us how to love those around us in a way that extends the glorious hope that we know to all. May many come into a lasting relationship with You, recognizing the joy and peace that accompany Your hope alone. Be glorified O God, as we hope in You forever. Amen.

May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope, Lord, is in You. – Psalm 25:21

Grow Roots of Gratitude

Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. – (Colossians 2:7, NLT)

You must depend on Christ only, drawing life and strength from Him. Just as you were taught the truth, continue to grow stronger in your understanding of it. And never stop giving thanks to God. – (Colossians 2:7, ERV)

Let your roots grow down deeply in Him, and let Him build you up on a firm foundation. Be strong in the faith, just as you were taught, and always spill over with thankfulness. – (Colossians 2:7, VOICE)

As we depend on Christ and draw life and strength from Him, our roots grow deep and our foundation, strong. Consequently, the deeper our understanding, the more our heart begins to overflow with gratitude. This week marks the kickoff of the whirlwind that is the holiday season. Life tends to become extraordinarily busy with the bonus activities and added gatherings the season supplies. If we stand strong in our faith, just as we were taught, our hearts cannot help but overflow with thankfulness. May we press into our Provider and allow our roots to grow deep down into Him, so that we draw life and strength from the true Source and overflow with thankfulness at His abundant provision of all that we need and more.

For in Christ alone, Trusted Thoughts and Worthwhile Words

Our roots shall grow deep;

Safe, strong and secure,

Our hearts His grace keeps.

As we learn and grow,

His love will abound;

Reason to give thanks,

His leading is sound.

With hearts full of praise,

Give thanks forever;

For God is faithful,

Beyond all measure.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that as we grow our roots in You, You build a firm foundation within us. Thank You that as we grow strong in our faith, our heart begins to overflow with thankfulness for You and all that You have done. Forgive us for not pursuing growth in You, or for neglecting to give thanks for all that You have done. Teach us to trust You more, so that we would seek You to be our Strength and Supply and give You praise in all things and at all times. Show us how to love those around us in a way that makes gratitude contagious. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we give You thanks for all that You are and all that You do. Amen.

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever. – 1 Chronicles 16:34

To Find Freedom

“To the Jews who had believed Him, Jesus said, ‘If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.  Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” – (John 8:31-32)

Our freedom is found not through the tossing aside of rules and regulations, but rather through faith in our Heavenly Father, in Whom true freedom lies.    This freedom is our right to enjoy all of the privileges of citizenship as members of God’s family.  “As we seek to serve God, Jesus’ perfect truth frees us to be all that God meant us to be.” (NIV footnotes) The better we know Him, the more evident His character becomes in us, and the more readily we are free to walk in the gifts and the calling that He has created in us and for us.  Freedom is found where His grace is renowned.

As we do life in the freedom that He has for us, people around us have the opportunity to taste and see that the Lord is good.  Freedom, when lived from the inside out, is a desirable gift that will be questioned and sought after.  Our testimony is made evident, as we are set free from that which has hindered us from being all that He has made us to become.  Actively seeking Christ, is the only way to discover what it truly means to be His disciple, so that we may model a life lived in the freedom found in Him.

In Christ alone,To Find Freedom

the truth is found;

trust in His word,

true freedom’s sound.

Cling to the cross,

from sin, set free;

empty the grave,

hope that is seen.

Power given,

to all who trust;

faith to hold fast,

He’s true and just.

In Him, we’re free,

to learn and grow;

to live and love,

so all might know.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that as we come to know You and Your truth, we learn what freedom truly is.  Thank You that freedom has nothing to do with our external circumstances, but rather everything to do with our internal condition.  Thank You that when we seek You, You begin to break away all that binds us from becoming who You intend for us to be; and we find freedom in You.  Forgive us for allowing anything to keep us from You or from being who You have made us to be, and help us to hold fast forever, to that which You are teaching us.  May we live and love like You, and may many come to know the true freedom that is found, only through a firm faith in You.  Be exalted, O God, and let Your freedom ring.  Amen.
