Hope to Hold

A brand new heart,

He gives to us;

replacing stone,

with His kindness.

A heart of flesh,

soft to receive;

His provision –

all that we need.

Spirit impart,

the will to move;

follow decrees,

darkness remove.

Help us keep laws,

You’ve set in place;

to swiftly run,

finish our race.

For what He gives,

is greater still;

eternal life,

promise fulfilled.

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.” – (Ezekiel 36:26-27)

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.”
– (I Corinthians 9:24)

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You soften the soil of our soul so that we are ready to receive all that You offer. Thank You that You love us back to life, even when our fortress walls have grown thick. Forgive us for fearing change, for only through change can a heart of stone become one of flesh. Teach us to trust You as You refine us and soften our hearts by Your Spirit. Lead us in Your love, so that we may love like You. Let the lost be found, and hearts be restored. Thank You that You are our Champion, strengthening, encouraging and sustaining us, so that we may run the race You’ve set before us. All glory and honor to You, as we are being made new in the light of Your lavish love. Amen.

Aine and MeAnne update: As I wrote this morning, I was seated on the floor near the foot of Anne’s bed. It seemed that rest had at long last come, after she had been up all night in pain. Sadly, it was only a short snooze, so she very much needs to rest. Please continue to pray for peace and for her pain to subside. It is agonizing to watch this sweet woman suffer. Also, please pray for continued wisdom and provision for the dear ones who are caring for Anne so lovingly. May His peace that passes all understanding be yours today and always. Praising Him for His promises, Shannon
