The Only Work He Wants

Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the One He has sent.” – (John 6:29, NLT)

If you want to do God’s work, then believe in the One He sent. – (John 6:29, VOICE)

God does not want a laundry list of the things that we are doing for Him, He wants our heart. We must believe in Him with all that we are, for this is how are pleasing unto Him. It is by faith that we are compelled to do anything good that He is calling us to do. Without faith, it is impossible to please Him…(Hebrews 11:6) Let us pursue the Lord with our whole heart, and trust Him to do and be immeasurably more than we could ever hope or imagine. It is only by His grace that any good can come from us, so let us seek Him with reckless abandon.

It’s not God’s desire,Believe Instead of Striving

For a list of work;

Instead He wants hearts,

To love as His church.

In order to love,

We first must believe;

Trust with all we are,

So truth is received.

With all that we are,

Let us rise and seek;

Our Most Holy God,

Who through our lives, speaks.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Your Son. Thank You that through Him, You made the way for us to be restored back unto Yourself. Thank You that above all things, You desire relationship with us. Forgive us for getting in the mindset that we have to do enough or be enough, rather than fixing our minds and hearts on You. Teach us to trust You more, so that we would focus our attention on the greatness of Your grace given to us, and the love lavished upon all who trust in You. Show us how to be beacons of Your love and light to those around us, so that they too may come to believe in Who You are and all that You have done. May many enter into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we fix our eyes and hearts on You. Amen.

Truth and Light

But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God. – (John 3:21)

When we live God’s way and pursue the path of His truth, we walk in His light, where it is evident to others that the good that we do is done through the power and presence of our great and gracious God. May we ever persevere in our pursuit of God, so that we are continually living in His light. May we reflect His love to all whom we encounter, today and always.

All who live by truth,Truth and Light

walk plain in His light;

displaying the Lord,

through each day and night.

Wherever we go,

and whatever’s done;

if we live for God,

we’ll reflect His Son.

Let us persevere,

in a truth-filled life;

making our Source clear,

the Ender of strife.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that when we seek You, and trust You enough to pursue a life guided by the truth, we enter Your light and become beacons that You use to reflect Your radiance. Thank You that anything good that we accomplish is not done in our own strength, but can only be done because of You. Thank You that You are our Source, our Strength, and our Supply in all things and at all times. Forgive us for attempting to do things on our own, or for somehow thinking that You won’t give us what is needed to accomplish what You call us to do. Teach us to trust You more, and help us to recognize that You supply us what we need for each next step as we move forward in faith, not as we are standing still. Lead us to love and serve others well, just as Jesus came to love and serve. May many come into a lasting relationship with You during this season of remembering You. Be glorified O God, as we live by Your truth and come into Your light. Amen.

Perfect Love

Perfect LoveLet us love one another,

for all love comes from the Lord;

it unites us together,

moves us all in one accord.

Each person who truly loves,

has been born of and knows God;

yet those who do not show love,

shall hear not heaven’s applaud.

It’s not that we have loved God,

but that He loved with His life;

His sacrifice for our sins,

He paid the ultimate price.

Since our God has so loved us,

so we too are meant to love;

though we’ve not seen the Father,

He lives in and completes us.

Those who acknowledge Jesus,

have Father God in their heart;

His love made complete in us,

so we know He’ll not depart.

There is no fear in God’s love,

for perfect love drives out fear;

even in scary spaces,

we know our Savior is near.

(Responding to 1 John 4:7-18)

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that Your love is perfect, and as we grow to know You more, You are perfecting Your love in us. Thank You that true love is sacrificial, and is chosen regardless of return. Thank You that You love us with Your everlasting love, even when our ways are not aligned with Yours. Forgive us for not fully following You, and for looking to man to model what You meant for love to be. Thank You Jesus, that You showed us what love looks like, even unto death. May Your lasting love be the lens through which we view the world, and help us to shine brightly before men so that we may be beacons of light that lead those who are looking, unto You. Help us to embrace all that You are, so fear will flee, and boldness shall come. Amen.
