Know now then that the Lord your God is the only true God! He is the faithful God, who keeps the covenant and proves loyal to everyone who loves Him and keeps His commands – even to the thousandth generation! – (Deuteronomy 7:9, CEB)

Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps His covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes His unfailing love on those who love Him and obey His commands. – (Deuteronomy 7:9, NLT)

So remember that the Lord your God is the only God, and you can trust Him! He keeps His agreement. He shows His love and kindness to all people who love Him and obey His commands. He continues to show His love and kindness through a thousand generations. – (Deuteronomy 7:9, ERV)

There is one God, and He is faithful, loving, loyal and kind. We can trust Him to be who He says He is, and to do what He says He will do. The Lord commands us to love Him and love people, and in exchange, He shows His love and kindness to us for all of our days. It does not mean that our lives will be easy, but He will always remain with us – present and prepared to provide peace, patience, strength and stamina for every situation that life brings. His love fills us when we are empty, and supplies what we need to navigate our days according to His good and perfect will. May we ever place our trust in God who is faithful forever, and do all we can to obey what He asks of us. Let His love and kindness be evident in our every word and deed.

May we understand,Lose the Law Grab the Grace

That God is the Lord;

There’s just One who’s true,

Let our hearts adore.

He is so worthy,

Of all of our trust;

Faithful forever,

So obey, we must.

His commands are good,

They show us the way;

To love as He loves,

As we trust each day.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that when we love You and obey Your commands, You are faithful to keep Your promises and loyal to lavish Your unfailing love and kindness upon us forever. Thank You that You are the only God, and that we can trust in You. Forgive us for being fickle in our faithfulness, as Your faithfulness is unwavering. Teach us to trust You more, so that we would seek You and depend on You in all things and at all times, as You alone are our Source and Supply. Show us how to love You and love people as You are calling us to love. May many come into a lasting relationship with You, as they recognize how loyal and lavish Your love truly is for all who call on Your Name. Be glorified O God, as we trust and obey You with all that we are. Amen.

Listen… be wise, and keep your heart on the right path. – Proverbs 23:19

Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law. – (Romans 13:10, NLT)

You can’t go wrong when you love others. When you add up everything in the law code, the sum total is love. – (Romans 13:10, MSG)

Does love hurt anyone? Absolutely not. In fact, love achieves everything the law requires. – (Romans 13:10, VOICE)

When we choose to walk in love, we are opting for obedience to all that God asks of us. If we love God and love people, we are fulfilling all that the law requires. Just as God perfectly loves each of us, He equips and empowers us to go and do likewise to all whom we encounter. It is up to us to choose to share what He has granted, so that those around us might come to see and know the goodness and grace that is given through the Lord’s love. The love that God gives is patient and kind, it is not jealous or boastful, proud, rude or selfish. Love delights in the truth and does not remember wrongs. Love never gives up on people, as it never stops trusting, never loses hope, and never quits. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7) May we each go forth and love as we are loved by God, so that in doing so, we walk in obedience to all that the Lord requires.

Love does not choose hurt,Purposeful Prayer

No matter what comes;

Instead it endures,

Like the rising sun.

All that is required,

Through the law of God;

Is truly fulfilled,

Despite all our flaws.

For God’s very heart,

Is clearly made known;

When we opt to love,

Just as we’ve been shown.

So let us go forth,

And love each other;

With goodness and grace,

One to another.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that when we choose to love as we are loved by You, we fulfill the requirements of all laws. Thank You that this is not something that we are expected to do on our own, but rather You equip and empower us to love by Your Spirit within us. Forgive us for the times that we neglect to love as we are called to do, and teach us to trust so that we might love like You. Show us how to love as we are loved, so that many might come to know the fullness of Your grace and the blessings of Your unending love. May many choose to follow You, all the days of their lives. Be glorified O God, as we choose to love others as we are loved by You. Amen.

He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy. – Job 8:21

For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. – (John 3:16, NLT)

For God expressed His love for the world in this way: He gave His only Son so that whoever believes in Him will not face everlasting destruction, but will have everlasting life. – (John 3:16, VOICE)

God loves us so much, that He willingly gave of Himself. Through His Son, Jesus, all who believe in Him will have life forever with Him. He, who is love, showed us that love gives what matters most. For us today, there is no longer need for sacrifice like His, as that which Jesus gave, covered it all. However, we do have resources that are valuable to us and to God’s economy. The manner by which we are able to love in a way that is sacrificial, is to give of our time, talents and resources. God designed and gifted each of us in a unique way, so that we might love well. We all have a choice as to how we use what we have been given. Are we utilizing the gifts from God that we have been granted to love others well, or are we keeping them to ourselves and just living out our days in isolation? Though there is no longer an extensive list of that which we shall and shall not do, we have been called to love God and love people. If we are committed to love, then our expression of His love will reflect the very nature of that which He has given unto us. May we believe and receive what we have been freely given, and go forth in His love, to love as we are loved by Him.

For God loved the world,Purposeful Prayer

Far more than we see;

Mighty sacrifice,

For all who believe.

To trust in the One,

Who in love, gave all;

So we’d know the way,

To rise from our fall.

The thing that He asks,

Is that we choose love;

Lift up each other,

Fix our eyes above.

By the Lord’s great grace,

All who choose believe;

Will live forever,

By His love, receive.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your love that is so much greater than we can grasp. Thank You that what You require of us is trust in You. Thank You that as we believe, we are called to love as we are loved. Forgive us for not loving others as You so lavishly love each of us. Teach us to trust You more, so that loving You and loving people becomes our passionate pursuit, all of our days. Show us how to love others as You have loved us. Lead us to lovingly give of our time, talents and resources in a way that points people to You. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we receive the remarkable give of Your love, and go forth to love others as we are loved by You. Amen.

May God Almighty grant you mercy. – Genesis 43:14

Those men who were considered to be important did not change the Good News message I tell people. (It doesn’t matter to me if they were “important” or not. To God everyone is the same.) – (Galatians 2:6, ERV)

It makes no difference to me (or to God for that matter) if people have power or influence. God doesn’t choose favorites among His children. Even the so-called pillars of the church didn’t contribute anything new to my understanding of the good news. – (Galatians 2:6, VOICE)

The point Paul is making in this verse is that when God calls us to speak the truth of His Word, all are an equal opportunity audience. In other words, we should not be intimidated to speak the very same truth that we share with our children to those who are in positions of power and influence. God sees everyone the same, and longs for all to come to know Him. When God gives us words to say, we need to simply speak them, rather than worry about how they will be received by those who hear. May our hearts be open to His words, so that we are prepared to speak the truth in love as He asks.

No one should try change,The Word of God

The truth of God’s word;

None are so mighty,

Nor by God, preferred.

We are all equal,

In God’s precious sight;

Dearly loved children,

In whom He delights.

He speaks to our hearts,

True words we can share;

Encouragement, love,

Comfort and His care.

Be brave and be bold,

Choose speak truth in love;

Let not fear of man,

Hold you in what was.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that the truth of Your word remains the same, and that no one can change that, regardless of their power or position. Thank You too, that what You call us to, You also equip us for, and You do not choose favorites among us. Thank You that we are all equally loved and valued as Your precious children. Forgive us for being intimidated by some, and allowing our perceptions of others to influence what we do or don’t say, despite what we know You have asked us to do. Teach us to trust You more, so that we would speak the truth of Your word through our words and deeds in all things and at all times, regardless of who is near. Show us how to love people as we are loved. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we listen and let our lives speak truth, no matter who is near. Amen.

As you know, we consider blessed those who have persevered. – James 5:11

But all who listen to Me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm. – (Proverbs 1:33, NLT)

But those who listen to Me will live in safety and comfort. They will have nothing to fear. – (Proverbs 1:33, ERV)

Just as little children are kept safe by following the instruction of their loving parents, so too are we protected as we heed the direction of our Heavenly Father. The Lord loves us and longs to bless and keep His children safe from harm. It is up to us to listen for His instruction, and then walk in obedience to that which He asks. God goes before us and walks beside us as we seek and trust in Him. There is nothing to fear when we know the Lord is near. May we experience God’s perfect peace as we listen to His leading, and choose to obey all He asks of us.

Provider of peace,Modeling Our Maker

All help comes from Him;

And fear’s sent to flight,

When we let Christ in.

As we choose listen,

His comfort is ours;

Power to protect,

Wherever we are.

Choose seek to listen,

And then too, obey;

His safety surrounds,

As we walk His way.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that when we seek You and listen to You, You grant us Your peace and protect us from fear of harm. Thank You that You are our comfort and provider of peace. Forgive us for not seeking You or listening for Your voice when trouble comes our way. Teach us to trust You more, so that we would look to You in all things and at all times, knowing that You are our source of safety and comfort, and in You, we need not fear. Show us how to love those around us in a way that offers comfort and peace for troubled hearts. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we listen and obey Your leading for our lives. Amen.

But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ. – Ephesians 2:4-5

Since God chose you to be the holy people He loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. – (Colossians 3:12, NLT)

God has chosen you and made you His holy people. He loves you. So your new life should be like this: Show mercy to others. Be kind, humble, gentle, and patient. – (Colossians 3:12, ERV)

When we invite Christ to be Lord of our lives, we become His people; holy and righteous before Him. Our status is not something that we somehow earn, but rather it is by God’s mercy and grace that we are forgiven and made right. As we are loved, the Lord asks us to go and do likewise to others. He asks that the very nature of He who dwells within us, be displayed before those around us, so that they too, may come to know His grace. Let us go forth and love others as we are loved, showing mercy, as God is merciful, and extend kindness, humility, gentleness and patience to all people.

For we are chosen,Diligent for All of Our Days

As people of God;

To be merciful,

Not a firing squad.

Because we are loved,

We’re meant to love too;

Be kind and humble,

In all that we do.

He wants gentleness,

And patience given;

Help all come to know,

Hope for forgiven.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that when we place our trust in You, You choose to make us Your holy people whom You love. Thank You that if we seek You, You clothe us with mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience to extend to those around us. Forgive us for our lack of seeking, and for operating in our own strength; for on our own leads to anger, arrogance, harshness and impatience for those who cross our path. Teach us to trust You more, so that we would seek You in all things and at all times, depending on You to provide all that we need to operate according to Your will. Show us how to extend mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience in love to those around us, just as You so generously give unto us. May many come into a lasting relationship with You, as they recognize the mercy and grace that You so lovingly pour out upon all who call on Your Name. Be glorified O God, as we trust You to help us show mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience to all whom we meet. Amen.

Shout aloud and sing for joy. – Isaiah 12:6

But all who listen to me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm. – (Proverbs 1:33, NLT)

When we listen to The Lord and follow His ways, we need not live in fear. His peace fills us as His protection surrounds us, for He is our strength and our shield. May we rise up in confidence as we listen to the Lord, trusting that obedience to what He asks keeps us in a place of protection and peace.

Listen to the Lord,

And all that He asks;

For His tender peace,

Is trust in His task.

There’s no fear of harm,

When we choose obey;

Our God is present,

As we walk His way.

Heart, be not troubled,

No matter the task;

For God is our strength,

In all that He asks.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that if we choose to listen to You, we live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm. Thank You that You are our Strength, our Comfort, our Shield and our Guide. Forgive us for neglecting to listen when distractions come our way. Teach us to trust You more, so that we would listen and obey, free from fear and overwhelmed by Your peace. Show us how to love people in such a way that they long to listen to You too. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we listen to You and live in Your peace, free from fear. Amen.

I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set my heart on Your laws. – (Psalm 119:30, NIV)

As one season comes to a close, and another begins anew, I must choose again to set my heart on pursuing the path that the Lord has placed before me. Though I am uncertain of all that includes, I know that my part is to choose to obey that which He asks, and to keep Him as my priority in all things. Whatever I do, I must ask myself if it is pleasing to Him, and if there is a way to give Him glory through it. I don’t mean this in a hyper-spiritual sense, but rather am I doing what I was created to do? For example, when I am outdoors and moving, I see and know the glory of His creation, and feel His pleasure in the freedom I have to challenge my body, physically. When I teach, I know that to be faithful to Him, I must be kind and compassionate, and love each student, no matter how they come through my classroom door. In newer arenas, there is a learning curve for what His way looks like, but I know that if I choose to seek Him, He will show me the way to walk in His truth. May we each choose the way of faithfulness to our Heavenly Father, and set our hearts on His laws. As we are faithful to follow the Lord, we come to know His pleasure in our pursuit of Him.

May we choose the way,Our Map and Our Guide

Of true faithfulness;

With hearts set on Christ,

Light of righteousness.

Let our eyes be set,

On doing what’s right;

According to God,

Let us live in His light.

For in the sweet space,

Of obedience;

We remain faithful,

To all that He asks.

Help our hearts, dear Lord,

To do as You say;

To go where You lead,

And walk in Your way.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that when we choose to faithfully seek You, You grant us the strength and help that we need to walk in Your ways. Thank You that You write Your laws upon our hearts when we invest our time in being in Your presence. Forgive us for neglecting to seek You in all things, or for setting aside what we know to be true for temporary gain. Teach us to trust You in all things and at all times, so that we would choose faithfulness in ALL things. Show us how to walk in Your truth at all times, and how to love others in such a way, that they can see You through us. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we choose the way of faithfulness and set our hearts on Your laws. Amen.

Because of the tender mercy of our God, …the rising sun will come to us from heaven. – Luke 1:78

God’s way is perfect. The Lord’s promise always proves to be true. He protects those who trust in Him. – (Psalm 18:30, ERV)

It is easy to grow weary in the waiting, when a promise has been spoken and we can envision what the fulfillment could look like. However, if we lose patience and stray from the way in which God has called us to walk, we miss out on the way that is best. His way is perfect and His promises prove true. The Lord protects us in the wait, as we trust in Him to lead, guide and walk beside us as we only move when and where He asks us to go. May we trust in the Lord and believe Him at His word, for His way is perfect and His promises are true.

For the Lord our God,

Hold Hope He is Faithful

image from quotespictures.com

Is faithful indeed;

Perfect in His ways,

Protects in our needs.

His promises true,

So let us choose trust;

Do as the Lord asks,

For His ways are just.

Let’s not run ahead,

Of where the Lord calls;

Instead may we trust,

That He’ll tear down walls.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that Your way is perfect and Your promises are true. Thank You that You protect those who trust in You. Thank You that You make the impossible possible, when we trust You and Your timing, as You can break down barriers that seem too big to ever overcome. Forgive us for our fears and lack of faith. Teach us to trust You more, so that we would not try to run ahead of You or branch off on our own, but rather that we would do what You ask and follow where You lead. Show us how to love others in such a way, that they might see Your grace and goodness through us. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we trust in You and believe that Your promises are true. Amen.

Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. – 2 Corinthians 3:5

We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps. – (Proverbs 16:9, NLT)

We plan the way we want to live, but only God makes us able to live it. – (Proverbs 16:9, MSG)

When we are living life in pursuit of the Lord, it is indeed good to press in and keep moving forward towards that in which we feel we are being called. Though there is rarely a “yellow-brick road” to show us the way, the Lord opens and closes doors to help determine our steps as we choose to continue to walk in pursuit of all that He has for us. He strengthens, equips and provides what is needed as it is needed, so that we can continue in the direction to which we are called. May we pursue the plans that the Lord has placed in our hearts, and trust Him to provide what we need to live them out.

With hearts open wide,Our Map and Our Guide

May we seek pursue;

The plans that we hold,

As God sees us through.

For plans are just plans,

Without the Lord’s touch;

In Him there’s power,

To accomplish much.

Whatever He asks,

Is what can be done;

Through His tender grace,

The Most Holy One.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that when we set our hearts on You, You direct our steps. Thank You that You place plans in our hearts, then equip and empower us to carry them out. Forgive us for being fearful when direction is unclear in our own eyes, and teach us to trust You more. Show us how to let You lead us and guide us in all things at all times so that we would walk in the way You call us to live. Help us to love others in such a way, that they turn to trust in You. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we make plans in pursuit of You, but allow You to direct our steps. Amen.
