Just Believe

“I tell you the truth, he who believes will have everlasting life.” – John 6:47

If we make the choice to believe and trust in His truth – not only for today, but always – eternal life with our Everlasting Father is ours forever.

Jesus Himself, spoke these seemingly simple words.  He did NOT say, “he who is most well-read, or she who does the most good deeds will be saved,” but instead, it is whoever actively, intentionally, and continuously believes, will enter eternity at the end of our days.

I imagine this is why He asks us to have a child-like faith.  Children trust and believe without overcomplicating or overanalyzing things.  They trust the truth to be true, and place their whole heart in all that they say and do.

As our approach to Christmas draws nearer still, and we agonize over the innocent lives that were lost, perhaps our hearts could be best prepared to honor our Heavenly Father, if we simply sit in His sweet and holy presence, and breathe, as we believe.  Exhale the exhaustion, anxiety, anger and fear, and breathe in the blessings to behold as we remember our sweet Savior’s birth.  Believe that it went far beyond that blessed night in Bethlehem.  Believe that He lived, died, rose again, took His throne in heaven, and sent His Spirit to be near to the broken-hearted.  Today, beloved, just believe.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You made the way for us to have everlasting life.  Help us to hold Your hand with child-like faith, trusting that no matter what happens in the world around us, You are always GOOD.  Forgive us for overcomplicating the truth rather than trusting You to teach us what we need to know.  Lead us to love one another, so that Your light might shine brightly before all mankind.  May many find comfort and trust in Your truth, and behold the belief that brings belonging to the promised place of eternal life.  Amen.
