Peace and Encouragement

Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. – (Romans 14:19, NIV)

So let’s try as hard as we can to do what will bring peace. Let’s do whatever will help each other grow stronger in faith. – (Romans 14:19, ERV)

So then, make it your top priority to live a life of peace with harmony in your relationships, eagerly seeking to strengthen and encourage one another. – (Romans 14:19, TPT)

This. There is so much useless arguing on the various social media platforms, that it is indeed necessary to make every effort to do what leads to peace and mutual edification. That is not to say that we should not have conversations about current topics, however, it seems that face-to-face civil conversations with the intention to listen to understand, are far more productive and beneficial than the back-and-forth name calling that does nothing but create further division. Incredibly, often the root of what people want most is the same, it is just convoluted by misunderstandings or personal experiences that shape a person’s beliefs. Personally, this is why I refuse to engage in certain conversations online, but will gladly have face-to-face discussions with people I know and trust. Amazingly, when we do, we often bridge the divide on where opinions or beliefs differ, and grow a greater understanding of why we see things through our own unique lenses. May we each do what we can to bring peace and find harmony in our relationships with others. Let us eagerly seek to strengthen and encourage each other well.

Let’s prioritize,

To make it our choice;

Seek to understand,

Hear each other’s voice.

For peace does not come,

Through vicious attack;

Rather through knowledge,

Where others are at.

Nothing’s accomplished,

Nor good ever gained;

Through angry judgement,

Or calling of names.

Lord Jesus, help us,

To listen and love;

Pursue lasting peace,

By grace from above.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You call us to pursue peace and mutual edification. Thank You that Your intention is for us to love one another, regardless of our similarities and differences. Forgive us for the times that we have not listened to understand, or have jumped to conclusions rather than sought to truly learn. Show us how pursue peace and build one another up. Lead us in love in all things. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we pursue peace and build one another up. Amen.

Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you. – 2 Corinthians 13:11
