For just as each of us has one body with many members and those members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all others. – (Romans 12:4-5, NIV)
Just as there are many parts to our bodies, so it is with Christ’s body. We are all parts of it, and it takes every one of us to make it complete, for we each have different work, to do. So we belong to each other, and each needs all the others. – (Romans 12:4-5, TLB)
In the human body there are many parts and organs, each with a unique function. And so it is in the body of Christ. For though we are many, we’ve all been mingled into one body in Christ. This means that we are all vitally joined to one another, with each contributing to the others. – (Romans 12:4-5, TPT)
It never ceases to amaze me when a group of people gather for a common purpose, how individuals with such different temperaments, personalities, gifts and struggles, are able to work and interact with one another, wonderfully. Yesterday, as a phenomenal group of ladies surrounded me to celebrate my upcoming marriage, I was overwhelmingly blessed to recognize the variety of strengths, struggles, gifts and individuality that each person possessed as they showered me with their love and kindness. Though many, each with a different connection to my world, it was a treasure to watch the interactions and conversations between them. Each one arrived as who they are and interacted accordingly. As they did, laughter and love filled the room. May we ever recognize the intention of our own design and the purpose we are meant to play as part of the whole. On our own, we can do some things well, but when joined together as a body, we are able to accomplish great things that have a lasting impact. May we give thanks to the Lord for His goodness as He created us uniquely and placed us in a body with whom we are able to come together as one.
God has created,
Each of us, unique;
To work together,
As His heart, we seek.
Though we are many,
We each fill a role;
To a common goal.
We need each other,
That is where strength lies;
As one, we shall rise.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that just as we each have a body with many parts that work together with different functions, so too, is the body of Christ. Thank You that we are each uniquely designed with intention and purpose, and we are able to fulfill our intended role best when together with a body of others seeking to serve You. Forgive us for the times that we either discount the way that we have been designed or question our ability to contribute to the whole. Teach us to trust You more, so that we would move forward in faith, joined together with the body to do all that You ask of us. Show us how to love and encourage those around us as we move forward with common purpose. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we thank You for the members of the body that You have placed around us and go forth in faith to do the very things for which we have been designed. Amen.
For the Lord your God will bless you, …and your joy will be complete. – Deuteronomy 16:15
