If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly. – (Romans 12:7-8, NLT)

Though these gifts that God gives to us should be shared throughout the year, how much more ought we give of ourselves during this season of giving good gifts? When we choose to use that which God has given to us, we are giving the gift of His goodness and grace to those whom we encounter in our daily lives. Our choice to serve, teach, encourage, give, lead and be kind, are ways in which His love is demonstrated to those who know Him not. Consistency over time is what has a lasting impact on the world around us. A one-time gift of choosing to do these things is great, but will soon be forgotten if the subsequent behavior or actions do not align. May we rise up and be intentional daily, to choose to give away the gifts that God has given unto each of us.

For God has given,Love Your Enemies

to each one of us;

gifts meant for giving,

like His Son, Jesus.

If crafted to serve,

then serve others well;

if designed to teach,

then teach to excel.

If to encourage,

then lift others up;

if it is giving,

then fill well their cup.

If given to lead,

then lead as Christ led;

if full of kindness,

then let that be spread.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You give each of us good gifts that are meant to be shared with those around us. Thank You that as we give of ourselves, You strengthen and refill what becomes depleted. Thank You that when we look to You, there is always enough to give of ourselves. Forgive us for thinking that we are too busy or too tired or spread to thin to be effective in what You call us to do. Teach us to trust You more, so that we would always make loving You and loving people our priority. Show us how we are meant to give away the gifts that You have placed in each of us. Lead us to love well, all whom we encounter. May many come into a lasting relationship with You. Be glorified O God, as we choose to freely give of the gifts that You have placed within each of us, so that others may come to know Your goodness and grace. Amen.
