Gifts Given to Glorify

The tale of the talents,

goes much farther than gold.

For within the story,

much more is being told.

We are all given gifts,

He expects us to use,

not allow to lie waste;

they’re to share the good news.

For within our gifting,

there is clear evidence,

of loving Creator,

that draws hearts to repent.

But if gift is buried,

and not allowed to show;

how will others see Him?

How will they come to know?

Each gift with a purpose,

each talent with a plan;

to love one another,

show God to every man.

Embrace what He’s given,

and go forth for the Lord.

Let no gift lie hidden,

nor talent be ignored.

For He has created,

each of us with a plan.

Uniquely intended,

to help all understand.

As we choose to obey,

and listen to the Son;

one day we will hear Him,

say, “My children, well done.”

(Responding to Matthew 25:14-23)

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You have created each of us with gifts and talents that You have intentionally designed within us, to touch lives and transform communities.  Forgive us for questioning, comparing or complaining about the way in which we have been uniquely designed, and help us to embrace with gratitude, the gifts that You have granted each of us to use for Your glory.  Teach us to grow and develop what we have been given, so that we might use our gifts to be a blessing to many.  May many come to know You as we step out in faith to be who You have called and created us to be.  Amen.

  1. Reblogged this on Shootin' the Breeze and commented:
    I am re-blogging this because it was posted on a blog I follow mere moments after I posted Suggestions From A Searcher — Part Five on taking up your cross. This poem from Revelations in Writing is on the same subject and beautifully written.

    • Thank you for sharing! I love how God “connects the dots” as He shows us other posts, or words from other sources that confirm what we are hearing. God bless as you faithfully serve Him! 🙂

  2. Your writing touches me as I struggle to discover my God given gifts.

    • I am so glad, as you have been blessed with abundant gifts that you give freely and generously from Him! Your servant heart and amazing hospitality are gifts from Him that He treasures! All gifts are equally valuable to Him. Love you so! xoxo

  3. Shannon, you have surely stepped out in faith, and are using your gift to share the Kingdom. Thank you for this inspirational post of encouragement!!

    • Thanks so much, Maria. You have been an ongoing source of encouragement to me since I first began this journey of sharing my writing publicly. Encouragement is surely one of your many gifts from Him that you utilize faithfully and generously! 🙂

  4. This is wonderful, Shannon. The 2nd image is one of my fave popular messages, and the first one looks kind of like a pretty tile. God bless you abundantly–love, sis Caddo

  5. humbled! Friend ~ I’ve been looking thru your magnificent blog, a wondering if you’d be willing to join a Christian group blog called Loopyloo…? The blog is distinctly for women and all which wish to lift up their voices in testimony of Jesus Christ ~ I’d be in your debt. My name is Deborah ~ PLEASE consider and, 2 posts a week would be extremely wonderful !

    • Hi Deborah,
      I am humbled and honored that you would consider having me be a part of such a wonderful group of faithful female voices for our Heavenly Father! I would be happy to participate if it is simply posting two of the posts that I am writing anyway in a week, it will work well, but if it requires writing beyond what I am already doing, it may be more than I am able to take on at this time as I write seven days a week, work full-time, and have a family. Please let me know where to go from here, and we can work it out. 🙂
      Thank you again!
      Shannon

  6. Two of the many needs in the Christian Church today is for all blood-bought, adopted children of the living God to identify and use their gift/s of the Spirit, and for the fruits of the Spirit to be clearly shown in their lives as they use the gifts in ministry.

    May we all
    “Embrace what He’s given,
    and go forth for the Lord.
    Let no gift lie hidden,
    nor talent be ignored”
