The Hope of Humility

When we’re invited

and ushered right in.

Choose not the choice seat,

to keep far from sin.

For when we are humble,

He’ll lift us up,

He’ll exchange our low seat,

so beside Him we’ll sup.

Yet if we self-select,

the choice honored seat,

humiliation will come,

when we’re asked to retreat.

Far better indeed

to humbly come,

with a heart set to serve,

and to worship the Son.

Open the banquet

to guests one and all,

for his heart is for each one,

to answer His call.

The blessings abundant,

the table is spread.

Are our hearts truly humble?

Are we willingly led?

May our hearts be wide open

and may we serve with our hands.

May His kingdom shine through us,

as we faithfully follow His plans.

(response to Luke 14:7-14)

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that your invitation to come is for everyone. Thank You that You do not just choose those who seem to have it all together, but You invite every heart that hopes to hear from You. Thank You for making the way for us to be in relationship with You now, and join You in heaven forever, through the atoning sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus. Thank You that through Him, ALL who call on Him may be saved. Forgive us Father for not always preferring one another, nor walking in true humility before You. Help us to understand what it truly means, and lead us in a life of love that longs to seek and serve You completely. May the words of our mouths and the work of our hands lead the lost to Your loving embrace. Amen.
