Wearing White Robes

Wearing White Robes“Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.” – Revelation 22:14

The washing of the robes is the symbolic cleansing of ourselves from sin.  It comes only through our asking and receiving that which Jesus has freely given by His great grace.  Going “through the gates into the city”, is our promised entry into eternity with Him, for all who believe and receive Him in our hearts.  I imagine “the tree of life”, though it was once the one thing not allowed in the garden with God, even that, will be ours to take part in, because of the perfect sacrifice given by our Savior, and by the defeat and destruction that will come to the deceiver.  Blessed indeed, will be every believer, on that great and glorious day when we are welcomed into our eternal home with Him!

As we arrive at this eve of yet another new year, it is good to both reflect upon what He has done, and anticipate what He will do.  I tend not to make resolutions, but rather resolve to continue to passionately pursue Christ to the best of my ability, daily, leaning not on my own understanding, but on His, and trust that He will continue to lead, guide and direct my every step in the direction He wants me to go.  A year and a half ago, I would have never have believed that I would willingly make what God places on my heart in writing, publicly available for so many to access.  Though it is still a bit intimidating, I never question His faithfulness to meet me each morning and whisper His words to my heart as I study His word.  He has held my hand and guarded my heart, as I have been grown and encouraged, challenged and loved well by both Him and the hearts of His people in this kind and loving community.

A very blessed 2013 to you all as we wait, wearing our freshly washed robes of white – for we are His, and He is preparing a place for us, far greater than our minds can conceive.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You sent Your Son to be the perfect sacrifice for all of our sin.  Please forgive us and help us to embrace the grace You give so that we may wrap ourselves in Your robes of white.  Thank You that we are blessed with the assurance of knowing the ultimate outcome, regardless of how things appear right now.  May this new year bring bountiful opportunities to be a blessing on Your behalf.  May many come to know You in this new year.  Amen.

    • Thanks so much, Ali. I really enjoy reading the relaying of truth that He whispers to your heart as well. Blessings as you continue to seek and serve Him so well! ❤ Shannon

  2. Hi Shannon, I wish i’d read some of you writing earlier: Oh well new years resolution time!!! Hhmm I don’t do that either. I’m not sure if I have understood the beginning of you post clearly, or if I miss interpreted it, I just noticed that there were two tree’s in the Garden of Eden one was the tree of life, and the other the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil – same tree.

Anyway, A&E were…sorry, Adam and Eve were sent out and bared so to speak from the garden specifically so that they would not eat from the tree of life and thereby live forever in the sin state which they received when they ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Something else, many people miss is this is precisely the reason that Jesus came, and went to the cross, and also the only reason he says ‘we must be born again’ in John chapter 3.

Adam and ever were not born, but formed, and every man other than Jesus Himself was born of the same sin that causes all to die sooner or later. But the new birth Jesus brought was for eternal life through the ‘new’ birth ….. I’m sorry this is getting too ooo long for a comment .. 🙂 Happy new year and God bless you Shannon.. Y/T Hubert

    • I apologize if I was lacking clarity or caused confusion as to the number of trees. My only point, was that what was once off limits for our protection, will one day be permitted, as all evil will be gone, and all darkness overcome. My heart is to deliver words of hope rooted in the truth of His word. I hope this makes it more clear. 🙂 Grace please, as I am no bible scholar, but rather a lifelong student of His word – ever learning and growing as He shows me more and more of Him and His heart for me. Happy New Year to you also, and may His blessings be abundant upon you and your loved ones. 🙂

      • Shannon I am far from anything likea scholar, matter fact I thing that might be nothing more than a fancy to some. lol I am preety easy going and kind, I am sorry if I came off as anything other than the simpleton that I am. I was kinda hoping to make a new friend this year might get it done since it’s Jan 1st today. P.S. I did like the post

      • No worries at all, new friend. I was just worried that I somehow communicated in a way that was causing a hang up, rather than clarity. 🙂 All good, and goal accomplished. Blessings to you, my fellow student of the word.

      • Yeah me too He’s great He died just two years after I came to the Lord in 96. But I often watch youtube videos of him ans repost them into my writing as I did even today.

      • I came to love his music in college and heard found much comfort in it when I was overseas with Youth With A Mission, and missing family and friends.

      • Wow overseas, youth with a mission – very good. Which is your favorite book of scripture? Mine is the Psalms and I think the reason for my poems is that love for the psalms. It’s probably the reason I write too.
