“Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What kind of house will you build for me? says the Lord. Or where will my resting place be?” – Acts 7:49
The God of all creation came near when He sent His Son to die in our place. With Jesus, risen and seated at His right hand, the Holy Spirit is sent to dwell in all who believe. Our heart is home to the Holy Spirit. What kind of dwelling resides in each of us?
If my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, what sort of space am I to prepare?
Fortunately, He who dwells in us, does a far greater job to prepare and maintain His home, than we ever could. Our job is to keep our hearts tender before Him, and allow Him access to all. As we allow Him to take hold of our hearts, He prepares a place that becomes great, only by the grace of God. When our eyes and hearts are toward Him, the clutter is removed and the courts are cleansed. He washes us in His word and in worship, and provides peace and plans as we pray.
His home in our hearts is pleasing to Him, when we are willing to allow Him to be Master of our domain.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You are not just a god out there, but You are God, who comes near. Thank You that You dwell in us and remain as close as our every breath. Forgive us for allowing ugliness and clutter to come in, and please cleanse and remove all that is not meant to remain. Build in us a space of beauty to behold, not that which is becoming to our physical eyes, but that which is blessed by You, our faithful Heavenly Father. Lead us Lord to love like You, so many hearts may hear the hope that Your hands hold. Amen.
