“He reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with Him.” – Daniel 2:22
That which lies in darkness, the things that are hidden and unknown, are revealed to us through Him, who is the Source of light.
It is nearly impossible to arrive at this day in history, and not remember the darkness that enveloped not only New York City and the Pentagon, but shrouded our entire nation with a desperate need for Him to again reveal His light, like never before.
Despite the death and darkness, His light did shine. He equipped and empowered so many to move mightily on His behalf. His hands and heart were revealed through the countless hours, selflessly given by firefighters, police officers, and the sea of generous volunteers.
Years later, many stories of triumph from this horrific tragedy have come to light. Fathers that have forgiven those responsible for the loss of their loved ones; families loving each other through the pain; and people giving praise to He who is ever-present, and will ever be our help in time of need. Despite the devastation and destruction, God was near. Our need for Him now known, like never before.
Today, a reflecting pool now rests where each of the towers once stood. The remarkable thing about water such as this, is that it cannot help but reflect light. May each of us, as He reveals that which is deep and hidden, become more fluid as we reflect the radiant light within us to a world in need.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You are the Source of all light, even in the spaces that seem desperately dark. As so many take a moment to remember the tragedies and triumphs that resulted from 9/11, may we each turn our hearts and heads to You, and readily receive and reflect Your radiant light wherever You are leading. Amen.
