“…For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.” – Matthew 12:34
The condition of my heart is made evident by my words.
Words are like weapons of the heart. When used to defend or dispute, they can either destroy or distinguish truth. The power of praise permeates the thickest of walls and yields joy in the hearts of both the presenter and the recipient.
My words, or that which is given a voice, paint a clear picture of the condition of my heart. When my words are loving and kind and laden with truth, it is clear that He is present and working within me. If I am short or sharp with my words, or if that which hides in my heart is not invested in Him, what escapes these lips lacks life and causes harm to the hearer.
As I fix my heart and mind on my Heavenly Father, my prayer is that every word that flows forth from my mouth, would be founded in faith and flavored with truth, so that His love for all will be the evident overflow of my heart.
Blessings to all as we enter this poignant season of thanks.

Or as a pastor that we enjoy has said: “Out of the heart, the mouth leaketh.” What is in our heart will come out of our mouths. A great reminder to be extremely watchful about what is in our hearts. Thanks.
It is so true! I find I must be ever mindful of what I allow to enter…
Hi Shannon, I found your blog from Michael Cartwright’s page. Fantastic post! I’ve learned our words can either build someone up or tear them down. “Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones” (Proverbs 16:24).
Thank you for the encouragement! I took a peak at your post as well, and am eager to read more. :0)
These words were spoken from truth.
God bless,
Michael
