Let it Shine

“The people living in darkness have a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.” – Matthew 4:16

We, who in our broken humanity dwell in darkness, have access to the Light of eternity.  He came so that we might not only dwell in His Light, but that His Light might dwell in us.  His intent is that the Light that dwells in us, will shine bright so that those who are trapped in darkness, may gain glimpses of His light, and ultimately be set free.

"This Little Light of Mine" by Cindy Norris

Shackles only sustain strength in the shadows; yet when they are exposed, they become as small shreds of twine, easily severed in the light of the Lord.  For He who is in us, is far greater than anything that may try to trap us in darkness.   He is our nightlight in the strongest of storms and our delightful dawn, ushering in the promise of a new day.  His presence is our protection from spiritual imprisonment.  Likewise, His Light in us is meant to illuminate the darkness around us, and grant hope to those who know not  of His eternal Light.

His word is the lamp unto our feet and the light unto our path.  He has provided His plan for us, and shows us the way by His Word.  If I am to know how to live in the Light, I must know His heart and trust His truth.  His Light burns brighter as it is fueled by His story.  He is our ultimate example of how to shine bright before all men, so that they may see the truth and be set free from the shadows.

My prayer is that His light will continue to destroy the darkness that dwells in me, so that His light may burn ever brighter before all who are near.

This little light of mine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine…
