Boat embarking

to cross the lake
familiar route
they’d often take.
Sleeping Savior
sudden squall -
raging storm,
frightened call.
“Master, Master,
we will drown,
the boat is swamped –
we’re going down.”
“Where’s your faith?”
Jesus then did stand and say,
“Be still,”
and all that raged, obeyed.
In fear and awe they wondered,
Who is He?
He speaks silence to the wind,
and calms the sea.
(my response to Luke 8:22-25)
The very same Savior that spoke to the storm and calmed the sea, dwells in the hearts of all who believe.  There is no squall too strong for Him, nor circumstance too great to separate us from His love, His presence, nor His peace.  He is our hope in the heartache and our calm in the storm.  Be still, and you will know that He is near.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You are our powerful and present Peace, even when life’s storms surround us.  Thank You that You are our Comfort and our Strength.  Forgive us for worrying about how much water we are taking on, rather than recognizing that You are in the boat with us, and will surely keep us afloat.  Teach us to trust You more in both the still waters and in the raging seas.  Lead us in love, so that we may offer Your beacon of Light to those who are lost in life’s storms.  Amen.
