The dominion of darkness
can keep men in chains,
yet it takes but a word
from Him who reclaims.
When Jesus says, “Come.”
Dark no more may dwell,
for where there is light,
talons must retreat back to hell.
The crazed and tormented
at last may be freed,
as Jesus comes close,
knowing all that they need.
The sick and the dying,
He heals with a touch.
Admonishing faithfulness,
as He loves all so much.
From the faith of a father
to his daughter lying dead,
Jesus said to fear not,
then He lifted her head.
The faith of a woman
to reach out her hand,
was met by kindness and freedom,
the healing He’d planned.
The dead found new life,
the sick are made whole;
the crazed given sound mind,
with eternal hope in each soul.
The wonders of heaven
found way to the earth,
through the life of our Savior
Who came humble by birth.
(This is my response to today’s reading of Mark 5)
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You still do the miraculous today. Thank You that if we simply open our eyes to the world around us, we may witness the wonder of Your goodness and grace. Thank You for the gifts of light and life and love that You grant each of us, freely, lavishly. Forgive us for not giving You our gratitude often enough. Help us to go forth into this day with hearts and eyes full of wonder at all that You are accomplishing in our world, and in our lives. May we be a blessing and a source of light to those who need to know You. In Your loving Name, we give thanks that You are so much more than we could ever ask or even imagine. Amen.
